Johnstown improves to 4-0 with victory over Schuylerville

SCHUYLERVILLE — The Johnstown field hockey team got a four-goal, two assist performance from Maddie Etherton and improved its early-season record to 4-0 with an 8-0 victory over Schuylerville in Foothills Council action Thursday at Schuylerville High School.

Anna Lee got the scoring going for Johnstown (4-0 overall, 2-0 Foothills) with an unassisted goal before Etherton put two goals on the board off assists from Taryn Ringer to build a 3-0 lead.

Etherton picked up that assist on Molly Memricks goal midway through the opening half before Ringer closed out the opening half dribbling into the circle and firing a hard shot into the back of the cage for an unassisted goal and a 5-0 halftime lead.

Etherton and Ringer hooked up on a give-and-go in the opening minute of the second half to extend the lead to 6-0.

Lee picked up her second goal of the match off an assist from Etherton and Ringer picked up her fourth assist of the match when she fed Etherton for her fourth goal of the match to close out the 8-0 victory.

For the match, Johnstown outshot Schuylerville 28-1 and held a 15-1 edge in penalty corners.

Katie Claps made 15 saves in goal for the Black Horses, while Bracie Vose was called on for one stop for the Lady Bills.

The Lady Bills will return to action Saturday when they host Gloversville (0-3, 0-2) at 7 p.m. at Knox Field.
