Tennis Preview: Amsterdam girls seek first win of the season

AMSTERDAM — The season has gotten off to a rough start for the Amsterdam girls tennis team.

The Lady Rams are winless in their first four matches this season and have had two others postponed by weather.

Amsterdam lost Molly Monge and Prabha Singh from last season’s team which went 9-7 overall and 8-4 in Foothills Council play. Monge was a Foothills Council all-star last season.

The Lady Rams return Natalie Flint, Helen Flint, Malin Colwill, Emily Brittain and Emily Yandik from last year’s team.

Rounding out the Amsterdam roster are newcomers Bella Agresta, Jasmine Rodriguez, Emma Pierce and Abby Reminger.

“We are a young team working on growing skills and developing consistency and mental toughness,” Amsterdam coach Amy Waddell said. “We have a very tight knit team that works well together.”

Amsterdam (0-4 overall, 0-3 Foothills) is scheduled to travel to Queensbury today for a 4:30 p.m. match.
