B-P grad Opalka competes for Sage

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. — The Sage Colleges’ women’s and men’s cross country teams competed on Saturday at the 2018 NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional hosted by Rowan University at the Dream Park of New Jersey.

Sage’s women’s team finished in 33rd place in a field of 44 teams, while Sage’s men’s team was incomplete. 

SUNY-Geneseo won the women’s title and the men’s team title went to RPI.

In the women’s race, the individual medalist was Elise Ramirez from SUNY Geneseo with a time of 21:50.5 to win the 6k race.

RPI’s Grant O’Connor won the men’s championship title posting an impressive time of 26:00.8 on the 8k course.

Sage’s women’s team combined for a score of 961 and finished 33rd.

Senior co-captain Victoria Opalka, a Broadalbin-Perth graduate, ran the race in 26:28.80 and finished in 186th place.
