Gottung earns Foothills Council honors

Several area players were among those named to the Foothills Council girls soccer all-star team.

Johnstown’s Abby Gottung was named Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team all-star.

Libby Cook and Sydney Loux were named first-team all-stars for Gloversville, while Harmony Philo was named to the second team.

Johnstown had Jenna Thompson and Grace Fitzgerald named to the second team, while Amsterdam’s Gabby Stanavich and Broadalbin-Perth’s Kacie Corcuera also earned second-team honors.

Earning honorable-mention status were Amsterdam’s Deli Figueroa, Johnstown’s Madison Delgado, Broadalbin-Perth’s Jackie Fisher, Gloversville’s Alecea Jones, Johnstown’s Carolyn Fitzpatrick, Amsterdam’s Jaclyn Stanavich and Johnstown’s Hope Buboltz,

South Glens Falls’ Amya Naja and Scotia-Glenville’s Tanya Leggiero shared Offensive Player of the Year honors. Both also were named first-team all-stars. Naja finished with 24 goals and 19 assists this season.

South Glens Falls’ Stephen Philo was named Coach of the Year after guiding the Bulldogs to the league title.

Emma Bovair, Aly Fish and Zoe Lanfear were named first-team all-stars for South Glens Falls, while Queensbury had Izzy Dennison, Brigid Duffy and Maddie Montgomery named to the first-team.

Rounding out the first-team selections were Schuylerville’s Cassandra Cooper, Scotia-Glenville’s Gwen Currie, Schuylerville’s Myranda Gale and Scotia-Glenville’s Annika Nielsen.

In addition to its four first-team selections, South Glens Falls also had Jaime DeSimone and Marlee James named to the second team.

Queensbury had Christina Cummings, Sophia Keshmiri and Brielle LaPlant named to the second team, while Scotia-Glenville’s Isabella Getter, Abby Marola and Rylee O’Connor earned second-team honors.

Hudson Falls’ Abra LaFontaine and Abby Schwartz rounded out the second-team selections.

Hannah Breen was named honorable mention for South Glens Falls, while Schuylerville had Brooke Keeger, Jenna Watson and Jess White named honorable mention.

Rounding out the honorable-mention selections were Queensbury’s Allison Basila, Glens Falls’ Shauna Carey, Hudson Falls’ Kayleigh Lacy, Glens Falls’ Stephanie Meehan, Hudson Falls’ Ashleigh Lacy, Scotia-Glenville’s Annamarie Piccirillo, Queensbury’s Mae Ryan and Scotia-Glenville’s Megan Steele.
