Mauro scores 1,000th point; Wells falls to Bolton

WELLS — The opening minute of Thursday’s Mountain and Valley Conference girls basketball game provided excitement for the Wells Lady Indians.

Sierra Mauro came into the contest needing just one point to reach the 1,000-point milestone and she took care of that in less than 60 seconds. The senior forward continued her scoring, pouring in 14 points on the night but it was not enough as the Lady Indians fell to Bolton by a final score of 50-39 Thursday at Wells Central School.

Genevieve Brown joined Mauro in double figures with 11 points, while Jocelyn Scribner chipped in with five.

Maria Baker led Bolton with 25 points, while Katelyn Vanauken finished with 14 and Jane Pfau added seven.

LOUDONVILLE — Emma Smith led Galway with her 15-point performance while Julia Reedy and Rachel Wnuk had 12 points apiece and Isabella Mancini finished with 10 points.

Genny Swanswon connected for four-pointers in her game-high 22-point performance for Loudonville Christian and Victoria Ralston chipped in with 11 points.
