Royal Mtn. skiers compete in Turin

TURIN — The Royal Mountain Racing Team raced in a giant slalom at Snow Ridge in Turin on Sunday.

Samantha Sandel of Gloversville won the girls U12 division with a time of 1:34.20, and Sylvia Slingerland of Glens Falls was second in girls U12 with a time of 1:41.90. Gianna Ciaccio of Fonda was fifth in the girls U10 division with a time of 2:13.60.

Carson Cheney of Johnstown won the boys U10 division with a time of 1:38.40, and Tanner Sandel of Gloversville was third in boys U10 with a time of 1:47.50. Jakob Hanna of Johnstown was third in U12 boys with a time of 1:35.20.

Andrew Lake of Johnstown was second among for U14 boys with a time of 1:37.80.

In the U8 girls division, Caroga Lake’s Embree Fielding was disqualified.

In the U8 boys division, Johnstown’s Ethan Stock (2:53.80) was eighth. Johnstown’s Owen Cox did not finish, Johnstown’s Wyatt Cox was disqualified and Johnstown’s Ethan Cornell was disqualified.

Broadalbin’s Molly Cook was disqualified in the girls U10 division, while Johnstown’s Kosta Vahaviolos did not finish in the boys U10 division.

Johnstown’s Noah Stock (1:44.30) was 11th in the boys U12 division, while Ballston Spa’s Meghan Buffaline was disqualified in the girls U14 division.
