FORT PLAIN — Brady Fureno and Taylor Gifford each had two singles and two RBIs to help second-seeded Fort Plain to a 10-0 victory over 15th-seeded Rensselaer in a first-round Section II Class C baseball contest Friday at Phillips Field.
The Hilltoppers scored five times in the bottom of the first on their way to the win.
Troy Butler had three singles and an RBI for the Hilltoppers and Bryce Thibodeau had a single and two RBIs.
John Cortese and Bryce Thibodeau combined on a one-hitter for the Hilltoppers.
The win was 794th career victory for Fort Plain coach Craig Phillips.
Elijah Foust had a double for Rensselaer’s lone hit.
Fort Plain (17-0 overall) will host seventh-seeded Hoosic Valley today at noon. The Indians posted a 3-1 victory over 10th-seeded Waterford-Halfmoon in their first-round contest Friday.

Section II Class C First Round
Canajoharie 18, Holy Trinity 7
TROY — Riley Montayne had two doubles, a single, seven RBIs and scored a run to lead 12th-seeded Canajoharie to a victory over fifth-seeded Holy Trinity in the opening round of the Section II Class C Tournament on Friday.
Isaiah Logan had a single, double, three RBIs and scored four runs for the Cougars, while Jack Montayne had a single and three RBIs.
Jack Krug had a single and scored two runs for Canajoharie, Josh Herget and Derek Hyney each had a single, RBI and scored three runs, and Nick Shariff added a single.
Danny Bullock was 3-for-3 with a home run, double and four RBIs for Holy Trinity, while Paul Barber had a triple.
Canajoharie (9-8 overall) will host 13th-seeded Hoosick Falls today at 1 p.m. The Panthers posted a 5-3 victory over fourth-seeded Granville on Thursday.

Ravena 7, Fonda-Fultonville 6
RAVENA — Carter Sorensen homered to help seventh-seeded Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk to a victory over 10th-seeded Fonda-Fultonville in a Section II Class B first-round contest Thursday.
Tommy Rosario and Spencer Brown each had three RBIs for the Indians. Rosario had an RBI double in the first inning and Brown added a two-run first-inning double.
Fonda-Fultonville rallied with four runs in the fourth, getting an RBI groundout from Cade Kearns and an RBI single from Myles Andersen.
The Indians answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth and got a solo home run from Sorensen in the sixth.
The Braves scored twice in the top of the seventh, getting a double from Kyle Lawyer, an RBI single from Dylan Hamlen and a fielder’s choice from Matt Zumbolo to make it 7-6.
Justin Kearns finished 2-for-4 for FFCS, while Andersen had a single and scored twice.
Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk will host 15th-seeded Tamarac today at 1 p.m. The Bengals upset second-seeded Saratoga Catholic in Friday’s first round, 8-3.
Fonda-Fultonville finished its season with a 12-7 overall record.
Section III Class C First Round
Cooperstown 9, Dolgeville 0
COOPERSTOWN — Kendall Haney had three hits and three RBIs to power second-seeded Cooperstown to a shutout victory over 15th-seeded Dolgeville in a Section III Class C first-round contest Friday.
Alex Hascup had two hits for the Hawkeyes.
Cooperstown advances to Tuesday’s quarterfinals to host seventh-seeded Frankfort-Schuyler. The Maroon Knights posted a 10-0 victory over 10th-seeded West Canada Valley in their first-round contest Friday.
Dolgeville finished its season with a 5-10 overall record.
