Bogdan, Wilson top finishers at Johnson Jog 5k road race

JOHNSTOWN — Broadalbin’s Gregory Bogdan was the top overall finisher in the Johnson Jog 5k on May 18.

Bogdan finished the 3.1-mile course in a time of 17:23.

Chatham’s Eli Russo was second with a time of 17:34, Johnstown’s Jake Wesley (19:16) was third, Johnstown’s Alex Cwiakala (19:59) was fourth and Gloversville’s Jamie Spraker (20:51) was fifth.

Broadalbin’s Amanda Wilson was the top female finisher, placing eighth overall with a time of 21:15.

Fort Johnson’s Victoria Opalka (21:39) was second among women and 10th overall, Gloversville’s Jessica Brosat (22:54) was third and 14th overall, St. Johnsville’s Ashley Mettler (22:55) was fourth and 15th overall, and Tribes Hill’s Meghan Lozier (22:57) was fifth and 16th overall.

Russo also was the top finisher in the boys age 14-and-younger division with his time of 17:34. Fort Plain’s Mason Thalheimer (23:41) was second and Johnstown’s Brady Houser (33:28) was third.

In the girls age 14-and-younger division, Johnstown’s Madison King (27:01) was first, Johnstown’s Memphis Meher (43:51) was second and Johnstown’s Julia Kollar (1:06.37) was third.

Johnstown’s Jake Wesley (19:16) was first in the boys age 15-to-19 division, Johnstown’s Alex Cwiakala (19:59) was second and Canajoharie’s Michael Harris (21:02) was third.

In the girls age 15-to-19 division, Fultonville’s Kianna Hanson (26:30) was first, Johnstown’s Alexis Houser (28:19) was second and Gloversville’s Isabel Willis (33:36) was third.

Amsterdam’s Steven Cuomo topped the men’s age 20-to-29 division with his time of 22:49. Fonda’s Aidan Simonds (24:35) was second and Broadalbin’s Aaron Bagwell (35:04) was third.

In the women’s 20-to-29 age group, Opalka (21:39) was first, Mettler (22:55) was second and Lozier (22:57) was third.

Fultonville’s Devin Franklin (21:58) was the top finisher in the men’s age 30-to-39 division. Johnstown’s Scott Jeffers (27:39) was second and Johnstown’s Cedrik Kessler (31:50) was third.

In the women’s age 30-to-39 division, Brosat (22:54) was second, Gloversville’s Katie Gifford (24:51) was second and Albany’s Stephanie Long (25:04) was third.

Fort Plain’s Justin Thalheimer led the men’s 40-to-49 age group with a time of 21:26. Gloversville’s Milo Gifford (23:23) was second and Johnstown’s Eric Houser (27:06) was third.

In the women’s age 40-to-49 division, Gloversville’s Jennifer Desjardens (25:01) was first, Niskayuna’s Karen Taft (26:33) was second and Johnstown’s Tammy Patrick (30:33) was third.

Spraker (20:51) topped the men’s 50-to-59 age group, Amsterdam’s John Modoski (21:06) was second and New Hartford’s Joseph Long (22:08) was third.

In the women’s age 50-to-59 division, Caroga Lake’s Lynne Delesky (23:18) was first, Amsterdam’s Emily Etzkorn (24:24) was second and Caroga Lake’s Valerie Wilson (26:32) was third.

Gloversville’s Roy Mowrey led the men’s age 60-to-69 division with a time of 23:10. Johnstown’s George Bevington (23:27) was second and Amsterdam’s Ned Hirt (26:59) was third.

In the women’s age 60-to-69 division, St. Johnsville’s Donnalyn Shuster (30:59) was first, Johnstown’s Crystal Beekman (31:07) was second and Caroga Lake’s Elizabeth Mowrey (45:28) was third.

Galway’s Terry Smith (25:45) was the top finisher in the men’s 70-and-older age group. Johnstown’s Robert Fairman (34:10) was second and Halfmoon’s Ray Lee (43:02) was third.

Broadalbin’s Joan Boehme (51:57) was the top finisher in the women’s age 70-and-older division, while Gloversville’s Dorie Cast (54:21) was second.

In the team division, Unicorn Mafia was first, as Justin Thalheimer, Mason Thalheimer and Dorothea VanValkenburgh posted a combined time of 1:14.19. Melinda Elwood, Amy Thalheimer and Mary Kuehner were the team’s other members.

The Galloping Giffords (Milo Gifford, Katie Gifford and Parker Gifford) finished second with a combined time of 1:30.10. Mohawk Valley Orthopedics was third with a time of 1:44.49. The team included Karen Taft, Russell Cecil, Mary Bagwell, Robin Ricci, Jackie Nulty and Joan Boehme.

A total of 115 runners completed the race.
