FORT HUNTER — Schenectady’s Isaac Menis was the top overall finisher in the Mule Haul 8K road race June 16.
Menis, 17, posted a time of 29:42.
Connor Schreher of McKinney, Texas, was second with a time of 30:17.
Glenville’s Gavin Vlainich (230:52) was third, Broadalbin’s Austin Becker (30:59) was fourth and Sprakers’ Craig DuBois (31:51) was fifth.
Amsterdam’s Marisha Gennett was the top women’s finisher, placing 17th overall with a time of 37:22.
Menis and Gennett also were the open championship winners in the Road Runners Club of America New York State 8k Championship.
Fort Plain’s Ashleigh Scott was second among women and 21st overall with a time of 39:10, Schenectady’s Laurie Hoyt (40:50) finished third among women and 24th overall, Gloversville’s Katie Gifford (41:52) was fourth and 29th overall, and Fonda’s Isabella Miller (42:32) was fifth and 32nd overall.
Hoyt also was the winner of the grandmaster championship in the Road Runners Club of America New York State 8k Championship.
Miller, 13, also finished first in the girls age 14-and-younger division with her time of 42:32. Johnstown’s Madelyn Connelie (53:43) was second.
Canajoharie’s Andrew Meka (35:05) was the top finisher in the boys age 15-to-19 division, while Bearyn Luey of Girdwood, Alaska, was second with a time of 46:42.
Caroga Lake’s Abigail Gottung (54:02) and Emma Gottung (54:05) were the top two finishers in the girls age 15-to-19 division, while Tribes Hill’s Alesha Chetty (1:15.35) was third.
In the men’s age 20-to-29 division, Becker (30:59) was first, Amsterdam’s Mitchell Roblse (42:40) was second and Amsterdam’s Rick Dufresne (47:47) was third.
Schenectady’s Alice Menis (42:54) was the top finisher in the women’s 20-to-29 age group, while Amsterdam’s Nicole Heck (50:23) was second.
Fort Johnson’s Tim Dufresne (36:05) topped the men’s age 30-to-39 division. Ballston Spa’s Charles Tempest (37:50) was second and Gloversville’s Dane Luey (41:20) was third.
In the women’s age 30-to-39 division, Gloversville’s Katie Gifford (41:52) was first, Ballston Spa’s Nichole Tempest (46:20) was second and Johnstown’s Danielle Krizan (47:38) was third.
Duanesburg’s Dennis VanVlack (33:39) was the top finisher in the men’s age 40-to-49 division, Canajoharie’s Drew Meka (35:06) was second and Jared Schreher of McKinney, Texas, was third with a time of 37:03.
VanVlack also was the winner of the master championship in the Road Runners Club of America New York State 8k Championship.
In the women’s age 40-to-49 division, Amsterdam’s Lynn Hughes (49:01) was first, Gloversville’s Erin Fioretti (54:00) was second and Fonda’s Sharon Nare-Carpenter (54:15) was third.
Hughes also was the winner of the master championship in the Road Runners Club of America New York State 8k Championship.
DuBois was the winner of the men’s 50-to-59 age group with his time of 31:51. Schenectady’s Ed Menis (33:19) was second and Altamont’s Brian Borden (34:20) was third.
DuBois also was the winner of the grandmaster championship in the Road Runners Club of America New York State 8k Championship.
Amsterdam’s Joyce Poulin (45:52) won the women’s age 50-to-59 division, while Fultonville’s Diane Scott (55:02) was second.
In the men’s age 60-to-69 division, Fort Johnson’s Tim DuFresne (41:09) was first, Delanson’s Steven Sweeney (41:14) was second and Gloversville’s Pierre Vandenabeele (48:39) was third.
DuFresne also was the winner of the senior grandmaster championship in the Road Runners Club of America New York State 8k Championship.
Jay’s Phyllis Fox (55:05) won the women’s age 60-to-69 division, while Schenectady’s Kathleen Goldberg (56:18) was second.
Fox also was the winner of the senior grandmaster championship in the Road Runners Club of America New York State 8k Championship.
In the men’s age 70-to-79 division, Galway’s Terry Smith (43:18) was first, Schenectady’s Joe Yavonditte (49:14) was second and Niskayuna’s Jim Moore (51:12) was third.
Team Scott, consisting of Ashleigh Scott and Mike Scott, won the team title with a total time of 1:29.38.
Team Heck (Andy and Nicole Heck) was second with a total time of 1:29.46 and Maddy and Daddy (Paul Connelie and Madelyn Connelie) was third with a total time of 1:30.52.
A total of 90 runners completed the 8k course.
It was the 36th running of the race, which is run primarily on Queen Anne Road and the historic Erie Canal towpath. The race distance was 8 kilometers on a USATF-certified course.
Awards were presented to the first three finishers, male and female, and to the top three male and female finishers in 14 age divisions.
In addition, the race was designated as the Road Runners Club of America New York State 8K Championship and special awards for first-place finishers in select age groups were presented.
The first 100 registered runners received souvenirs. After the race, a free Father’s Day picnic took place for all runners and their families and guests.
