After a two hour delay, the track crew got the track race-ready for the full race card plus the first appearance at the speedway in three years by the CRSA 305 sprint cars.
Rocky Warner picked up his second-straight Red Chair crate modified feature win, while Luke Horning posted his second victory of the season in the Yurkewecz Auto Crusher pro stock feature and Tucker O’Conner picked up the win in the limited sportsman division. Cliff Haslun held off race-long challenges from Jason Samrov to get the street stock victory.
Cory Sparks took over the lead with two laps to go in the 25-lap CRSA A-Main and held off Emily VanInwegen and Jeff Trombley over the final circuits for the victory, while Jeff DeGroat and Wayne Russell Jr. respectively won the 50-lap, $500-to-win “Mini Shock” dual- and single-cam main event.
Brett Putnam held off Dan Ballard and Garrett Poland for the all-star slingshot victory, while Darryn Fallis made the most of a late-race restart to pick up the victory in the Northeast Paving and Sealcoating junior slingshot feature.
Warner and Chad Edwards brought the crate modified field to the green with Warner getting the early lead over Edwards. Andrew Buff slipped under Edwards into second but could not run down Warner as he recorded his 24th career sportsman victory at The Ridge.
Buff held on for second over Edwards, with Ryan Heath third, Ryan McCarney fourth and Joe Orlando fifth. Jim Introne Jr, Scott McCoy and Brian Calabrese round out the field.
Steve Cosselman, Justin Knight and Ivan Joslin pressured Horning early in the pro stock feature that was slowed by one caution.
Horning built a substantial lead over the final 17 laps to post his second-straight win. Nick Stone got up for second over Knight, Cosselman and Joslin.
John Scarborough set the pace in the 25-lap CRSA A-main with Alysha Bey, Sparks and VanInwegen battling for second.
Sparks made a run at Scarborough on a lap 20 restart but Scarbourgh had enough to hold off the challenge.
Scarborough’s night ended with two laps remaining when the motor let go, giving Sparks the lead.
Sparks held of VanInwegen and Trombley over the final half mile to get the win. Brett Jaycox and John Kolosek round out the top five.
In the 50-lap Mini Shock feature for the 4-cylinders, Josh Kane built a half-track advantage over DeGroat, P.J. Bleau and John Napoli only to have a flat tire end his night and leaving the door open for DeGroat to be first under the checkers to take the dual-cam win, while Russell was fifth under the checkers but the first single-cam finisher and had to be towed to victory lane after losing an engine after crossing the finish line.
Brock Pickerous and Matthew Backus battled on the front end of the Jr. Slingshot feature until both spun with two laps remaining, opening the door for Fallis to hold off Pickerous’ charge back to the front for the win. Pickerous was second followed by Adrianna DeRocher, Sloan Cherko, Backus and Tavian Blowers.
Ballard and Putnam battled for the lead early in the All-Star Slingshot feature before Putnam slipped into the lead and steadily pulled away for the win over last-weeks winner Ballard. Garrett Polland came home in third followed by Mike Hill and Jim Gage.
The big and small-block modifieds will join the race program with Twin 25s Sunday along with a full regular program on Kids Night at The Ridge.
