Five local riders post victories at Royal

CAROGA LAKE — Several local riders posted wins Sunday on the second and final day of a two-day Central New York Motocross Racers Association/Monster Energy Drink event at Royal Mountain Ski Area.

A total of five area riders picked up victories Sunday.

Johnstown’s Kyle Pollak, Gloversville’s Anthony Attigliato, Johnstown’s Ethan Cornell, Gloversville’s Salvatore Attigliato and Johnstown’s Bennett Melita all claimed victories.

Pollak won the 122-250cc expert and 122-open expert classes

Anthony Attigliato won the 122-open novice class, while Salvatore Attigliato won the plus-25 amateur class.

Johnstown’s Bennett Melita won the senior mini two-stroke 12- to 15-year-old class and was second in the open mini 10- to 16-year-old class.

Cornell won the mini quad 50cc production class.

In addition to Pollak, five other riders claimed wins in multiple classes Sunday.

East Dickinson’s Charles Clookey won the 122-250cc amateur and 122-open amateur classes, while Camillus’ Chad Yarter won the plus-25 quad and quad expert classes.

Brunswick’s Joe Falzo won the plus-30 amateur and plus-40 amateur classes, Petersburg’s Scott Phelps won the plus-40 expert and plus-45 expert classes, and Croghan’s Gavin Walseman won the 122-250 novice and schoolboy 12- to 16-year-old classes.

In the quad classes, East Berne’s Alissa Duncan (mini quad 51-90cc production), Victory Mills’ Scott Salls (quad amateur), Schenevus’ Thomas Snyder (quad collegeboy 16-24), Edmeston’s Corey Simmons (quad novice) and Maryland’s Wyndam Spooner (quad schoolboy 10-16 modified) claimed wins.

Other winners included Cropseyville’s Zachary Mossey (122-125 two-stroke), Camden’s Noah Gokey (51cc open 4-8), Boonville’s Blake Croniser (51cc pee wee junior 4-6), Whitney Point’s Trevor David (51cc pee wee senior 7-8), Livingston Manor’s Danny Wilson III (65cc two-stroke 7-11), Waterville’s William Staelens (plus-45 amateur), Esperance’s Mark Molesky (collegeboy 17-24), LaFayette’s Jimmy Argus (junior mini two-stroke 9-11), Clifton Park’s Gavin Betts (open mini 10-16), Johnsonville’s Brian Falzo (plus-25 expert), West Winfield’s Andrew Tripple (plus-30 expert), Baldwinsville’s Emme Flint (women 85-250cc) and Saratoga Springs’ Edward Nadeau (plus-50).

Several area riders posted top-five finishes.

In the schoolboy 12- to 16-year-old class, Gloversville’s Devin Buyce was fourth and Fort Plain’s Kyle Oertel was fifth.

Johnstown’s JT Vietri was second in the 122-open novice class, while Johnstown’s Hayden Zelich was fourth.

Johnstown’s Michael Ward was second in the plus-45 expert class and fourth in the plus-40 expert class, while Gloversville’s Dennis Fitzpatrick was fifth in the plus-50 class.

Gloversville’s Devin Buyce was fourth in the 122-125 two-stroke class, Fonda’s Tyler Blowers was fourth in the 122-open expert class, and Gloversville’s Evan Darling was third in the 51cc pee wee senior 7-and-8-year-old class.

Johnstown’s Maxx Miller was second in the 65cc two-stroke 7- to 11-year-old class, Fonda’s Timothy Wilmot was third in the junior mini two-stroke 9- to 11-year-old class, and Gloversville’s Tyler Rizzo was third in the mini quad 51-90cc production class.

Pattersonville’s Marc Hartje was fifth in the open mini 10- to 16-year-old class, Johnstown’s Adryan Pelosi was fifth in the plus-25 expert class and Gloversville’s Gerald Playford was fifth in the plus-30 amateur class.

Royal Mountain will return to action Wednesday with a Monster Energy Supercross event.
