Three area riders claim wins at Royal Mountain

CAROGA LAKE — Several area riders posted strong showings on the first day of the two-day Central New York Motocross Racers Association/Monster Energy Motocross event Saturday at Royal Mountain Ski Area.

Johnstown’s Kyle Pollak, Johnstown’s JT Vietri, and Johnstown’s Maxx Miller all claimed wins Saturday,

Pollak won the 122-250 expert class. He also was second in the 122-open expert class.

Vietri won the 122-open novice class, while Miller was first in the 65cc two-stroke 7- to 11-year-old class and second in the junior mini two-stroke 9- to 11-year-old class.

Three riders claimed wins in two separate classes Saturday.

Whitney Point’s Trevor David won the 51cc open 4- to 8-year-old and 51cc pee wee senior 7-and-8-year-old classes, Petersburg’s Scott Phelps won the plus-40 expert and plus-45 expert classes and East Dickinson’s Charles Clookey won the 122-open amateur and schoolboy classes.

Frankfort’s Jake Owens won the open mini 10- to 16-year-old and senior mini two-stroke 12- to 15-year-old classes.

Several area riders posted top-five finishes.

Johnstown’s Hayden Zelich was fourth in the 122-125 two-stroke class and third in the 122-open novice class.

Johnstown’s Brandon Handy was fifth in the 122-250 amateur class and fourth in the 122-open amateur class.

Johnstown’s Adam Handy was fourth in the 122-250 expert class, while Fonda’s Tyler Blowers was fifth. Blowers also was third in the 122-open expert class and Johnstown’s Adryan Pelosi was fourth. Pelosi also was third in the plus-25 expert class.

In the open mini 10- to 16-year-old class, Fonda’s Charles Rose was fourth and Johnstown’s Bennett Melita was fifth. Melita also was second in the senior mini two-stroke 12- to 15-year-old class.

Broadalbin’s Ryan Rose was second in the plus-25 amateur class, while Gloversville’s Dennis Fitzpatrick was fifth in the plus-50 class.

In the plus-40 expert class, Fultonville’s T.J. Chicoski was second and Johnstown’s Michael Ward was third.

Gloversville’s Gerald Playford was fourth in the plus-30 amateur and Johnstown’s Jason Cook was fifth.

Johnstown’s Adam Handy was fifth in the 51cc open 4- to 8-year-old class.

In the 51cc pee wee senior 7-and-8-year-old class, Gloversville’s Evan Darling was third and Johnstown’s Kip Simons was fourth.

Gloversville’s Tyler Rizzo was third in the mini quad 51-90cc production class.

A field of 192 riders competed Saturday.

Racing is slated to continue today with the final day of the two-day event. All riders must be signed in by 9 a.m. Practice starts at 8:30 a.m. with racing at 10:30 a.m.

Monster Energy Supercross

CAROGA LAKE — A huge field of 242 riders was in attendance Wednesday for Monster Energy Supercross competition at Royal Mountain.

Nine area riders claimed wins in their respective classes.

Fonda’s Carter Petersen, Johnstown’s Kyle Pollak, Gloversville’s Salvatore Attigliato, Johnstown’s Ethan Cornell, Gloversville’s Shane Graham, Johnstown’s Michael Ward, Mayfield’s Jordan Miller, Northville’s Eric Junquera and Mayfield’s Andrew Ashbey all notched wins.

Pollak won the 122-open expert and 122-250 expert classes, while Petersen won the 122-250 amateur class and was second in both the 122-125 two-stroke and schoolboy classes.

Attigiato won the 122-open amateur class, Cornell won the mini quad 50cc class, Graham won the pit bike class and Ward was the top finisher in the plus-30 expert class.

Junquera (quad expert), Ashbey (quad novice) and Miller (quad schoolboy) also posted wins.

In addition to Pollak, one other rider won multiple classes Wednesday.

Earlville’s Tomek Jusianiec won the junior mini 9- to 11-year-old, mini 60 7- to 11-year old and mini 80 9- to 11-year-old classes.

In the 122-250 novice class, Gloversville’s Anthony Attigliato was third, Fonda’s Charles Rose was fourth and Gloversville’s Freddy Muhlberger was fifth.

Rose also was second in the open mini 10- to 16-year-old class, while Pattersonville’s Marc Hartje was third.

In the plus-30 expert class, Gloversville’s T.J. Chicoski was second and St. Johnsville’s Burton Wilson was third.

Gloversville’s Sean Dufel was fourth in the plus-30 amateur class, while Gloversville’s Sal Attigliato Jr. was third in the 50cc 4- to 6-year-old class.

Johnstown’s Maxx Miller was fifth in the junior mini 9- to 11-year-old class, while Dolgeville’s Jim George was fifth in the mini 60 7- to 11-year-old class.

Fonda’s Tyler Miller was second in the mini quad 50cc class, while Gloversville’s Tyler Rizzo was fifth in the mini quad 51-90cc class.

Gloversville’s Brent Muhlberger Jr. was fourth in the pit bike class.

In the plus-40 amateur class, Stratford’s Tom Hogan was fourth and Hagaman’s Joe Kulewicz was fifth.

Broadalbin’s Anthony Musto was second in the quad amateur class, while Gloversville’s Tyler Covey was second in the quad schoolboy class.
