Boys Soccer Roundup: Braves get past Mekeel Christian

FONDA — Tyler Sweet had a goal and an assist to lead Fonda-Fultonville to a 2-1 victory over Mekeel Christian Academy in a Western Athletic Conference boys soccer contest at John G. Boshart Field on Wednesday.

Cody Hanson also scored for the Braves, who outshot the Lions by an 8-4 margin.

Len’s Lima scored the lone goal for Mekeel Christian.

Jacob Sisco made three saves for FFCS (2-6-1 overall, 2-4-1 WAC), while Ilan Martuscello made six saves for Mekeel Christian.

The Braves are off until next Wednesday when they are slated to travel to Canajoharie for a 4:15 p.m. contest.

Northville 3, Fort Plain 1

NORTHVILLE — Levi Morgan scored twice to lead Northville to a WAC victory over Fort Plain on Wednesday.

The Falcons scored three times in the second half to rally from a 1-0 halftime deficit.

Curtis Arnold finished with a goal and an assist for Northville, while Jacob Frank added an assist.

Ethan Reese scored the lone goal for Fort Plain (3-6 overall, 2-4 WAC).

Daniel VanNostrand made eight saves for Northville (7-3-1 overall, 5-2-1 WAC), while Robert Jordan had five stops for Fort Plain.

Northville is slated to travel to Doane Stuart on Tuesday for a non-league contest, while Fort Plain is slated to travel to Cherry Valley-Springfield on Friday for a non-league game at 6:30 p.m.

OESJ 8, Duanesburg 0

DUANESBURG — Ian Hayes netted three goals to lead Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville to a WAC victory over Duanesburg on Wednesday.

Mason Snell had two goals and two assists for the Wolves, who led 6-0 at halftime.

Andrew Snell had a goal and two assists for OESJ (4-3 overall, 4-2 WAC), Jacob Snell had a goal and an assist, and Travis LaFountain also scored.

LaFountain and Mason Snell each had two saves to share the shutout in goal for the Wolves.

Robert Noviczski made eight saves for Duanesburg (0-7 WAC).

Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville is scheduled to host Canajoharie on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Schoharie 3, Berne-Knox-Westerlo 2

BERNE — Derek Dietz, Dustin Bengtson and Noah Fagnani scored to lead Schoharie to a WAC victory over Berne-Knox-Westerlo on Wednesday.

Quin Barton had an assist for the Indians.

Ezeke Pulliam scored both goals for Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

Bailey Smart made seven saves for Schoharie, while Tyler Goodemote made eight stops for the Bulldogs.

Northern Soccer League

Johnsburg/Minerva 6, Wells 3

WELLS — Devin Millington scored twice to lead Johnsburg/Minerva to a victory over Wells on Tuesday.

Jaxon Roblee and Yandon Cleveland each had a goal and an assist for Johnsburg/Minerva, while Claton Schmale and Gabe Freebern also scored.

Anthony Galle and Evan Wing each had an assist for Johnsburg/Minerva.

Henri Frick and Mason Ward each had a goal and an assist for Wells. Matt Richards also scored for the Indians.

Wells (1-5 overall, 1-5 NSL) is scheduled to host Newcomb today at 4:30 p.m.


Galway 3, Corinth 2

CORINTH — Charlie Clarke finished with two goals and an assist to lead Galway to a non-league victory over Corinth on Wednesday.

The Golden Eagles led 3-0 at the half before holding off a second-half rally by the Tomahawks.

Anthony Powers also scored for Galway, while Konstantin Friederich added an assist.

Jonathan Meade and Isaac Melville scored for Corinth.

Henry Flint made three saves for Galway (8-1-1 overall), which is unbeaten in its last seven games, going 6-0-1.

Andy Mckeron made 11 stops for Corinth, which was outshot by a 17-5 margin.

Galway is slated to host Middleburgh on Saturday at 5 p.m.
