JOHNSTOWN — The 2019 cross country season is right around the corner and first-year Fulton-Montgomery Community College coach Jim Bowles has his team off and running.

The team has been preparing for the start of the season for over a week and are excited to begin their season Saturday.

“Practices got off to a bit of a late start, but the team is coming along well,” Bowles said. “We have been working on endurance and getting them to believe in themselves.”

The rosters have five runners on the men’s team and 10 runners on the women’s team.

The FMCC men’s team includes Aldrik Adames, Nolan hayes, Jon Hendley, Sebastian Mills and Andre Stanfield.

The FMCC women’s squad includes Katy Brisley, Chyna Cadet, Daley Jo Christman, Christiana Colon, Anika Douglas, Maria Fernandez, Tianna Harrigan, Mariel Marte, Mistianni Webster and Kira Williams.

“There are no returning runners on either squad, so everyone is new,” Bowles said. “The early practices have been led by Jon Hendley and Kira Williams.”
The team has been putting in miles and look to keep improving and get some good times this season.

“It’s a little early to talk strengths, but the focus will always be developing student-athletes that will excel in and out of the classroom,” Bowles said. “Overall, we hope everyone remains academically eligible and injury free.  From what I’ve been able to look up, we’ve never had both teams compete since the program was reintroduced in 2016. That is also something we want to achieve.”

The Raiders will open their season on Saturday at the Wildcat Classic, which will be hosted by SUNY Poly.
