H.S. Football Roundup: Braves top Mechanicville to remain unbeaten

GLOVERSVILLE — The Glens Falls Indians continued to put up big numbers in their early-season football games.

After outscoring their opponents 101-19 in the first two weeks, the defending Class B state champions continued their run with a 42-7 victory over Gloversville in a Class A/B crossover game Friday night at Robert E. Gould Stadium at Husky Field.

The Indians (3-0) broke the game open in the first half with Aalijah Sampson leading the way with three touchdowns and 132-yards rushing to go with a 25-yard touchdown pass reception. Griffin Woodell added a pair of touchdowns for Glens Falls.

Addonis Jeffries rushed for Gloversville’s lone score of the game with a 7 yard fourth-quarter touchdown run. Jeffries finished the game with 69 yards on 15 rushes and quarterback Garrett Dooling had 50 yards passing in a 3-for-14 performance.

Glens Falls amassed 402 total yards of offense (295 rushing, 107 passing), while Gloversville (0-3) finished with 135 total yards (85 rushing, 50 passing).

Gloversville is slated to host South Glens Falls next Friday at 7 p.m.

BROADALBIN — The Black Horses put up three first-quarter touchdowns as they rebounded from a 34-13 loss last week to Glens Falls.

Jacob Vanderhoof led Schuylerville (1-2) with four touchdowns and 90 yards rushing, while quarterback Owen Sherman rushed for 111 yards on eight rushes.

Dante Calderone accounted for the Patriots’ touchdown with a 41-yard run.

B-P is slated to travel to Johnstown next Friday for a 7 p.m. game.

FONDA — Fonda-Fultonville quarterback John Mancini three for 91 yards and a touchdown to go with an 85-yard fumble return and 44 yards rushing to help the Braves improve to 3-0 on the season.

Jackson Atty opened the second half for the Braves with an 87 yard kickoff return.

STILLWATER — Mason Seymour rushed for four touchdowns to help Stillwater improve to 3-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Class C Central.

James Galarneau added a 59-yard touchdown run for the Warriors.

Derek Hyney led Canajoharie-Fort Plain with a 16-for-25, 154 yard passing performance. Keegan Meyers was on the receiving end of two touchdown passes from Hyney and finished with 93 receiving yards on five receptions.

Andrew Ferguson finished with 17 tackles for C-FP to go with 33 yards rushing and 21 receiving yards.
