H.S. Football Roundup: Fonda-Fultonville gets past Tamarac in opener

FONDA — John Mancini scored on a 2-yard touchdown run with 52 seconds to play to lift the Fonda-Fultonville football team to a Class C Central Division victory over Tamarac on Friday at John Boshart Field.

Mancini was 6-for-12 for 73 yards and a touchdown passing. He also rushed for three touchdowns and 126 yards on 10 carries. Jackson Atty had a 17-yard touchdown catch for the Braves.

Peyton Nealon rushed for two touchdowns for Tamarac, while Jonah Rescott also scored a rushing touchdown for the Bengals.

Fonda-Fultonville is scheduled to host Canajoharie-Fort Plain next Friday.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 49, Gloversville 13

BURNT HILLS — Caeden LaPietro rushed eight times for 168 yards and three touchdowns to lead Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake past Gloverville in a Class A Grasso Division opener for both squads.

Anthony Tomek connected for two fourth-quarter touchdown passes for Gloversville.

The Spartans produced a strong ground game, outrushing Gloversville 368-90.

Gloversville (0-1) will host Ballston Spa (0-1) in its home opener next Friday at Husky Field at Robert E. Gould Stadium.

MECHANICVILLE — Canajoharie-Fort Plain scored 22 points in the third quarter on its way to a Class C Central Division victory over Mechanicville.

Canajoharie-Fort Plain trailed 13-6 at the half before rallying for the win.

C-FP will travel to Fonda-Fultonville next Friday.

Amsterdam 33, Colonie 20

AMSTERDAM — Peyton Ausfeld rushed for 173 yards on 18 carries to power Amsterdam to a season-opening victory over Colonie.

Ausfeld scored on runs of 14 and 8 yards and also caught a 76-yard touchdown pass from Tommy Ziskin.

Cameron Chrzanowski added 31-yard and 10-yard touchdown runs for the Rugged Rams.

Christian Hubbard scored on a 9-yard run, 80-yard kickoff return and a 73-yard run for Colonie. Hubbard finished with 129 yards on eight carries.
