Girls Basketball Roundup: Clinton cruises to victory over Dolgeville

CLINTON — On a night dedicated to breast cancer awareness and benefitting Mrs. Alisa Capponi, a teacher in the Clinton School District, the Lady Warriors defeated Dolgeville 60-33 in Center State Conference girls basketball action Friday night at Clinton High School.

Hannah Spofford led Dolgeville with 10 points and two rebounds, while Emily Frasier had eight points and four rebounds.

Gianna Trunfio led Clinton with 24 points, while Mariah Seward finished with 12 points.

Lizzie Wratten and Ella Morse chipped in with eight points apiece for Clinton.

“I would like to thank the Clinton team and coaches for reaching out to us and allowing us to help give back to their community after their generosity this Christmas,” Dolgeville coach Jennifer Morse said. “Clinton and Westmoreland after the Halloween flood helped the Dolgeville girls collect toys that were donated to the Dolgeville Youth Commission in support of local families and those who lost everything in the flood.”

Dolgeville (6-8 overall) is scheduled to host Poland on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.

CANAJOHARIE — Mayfield used a 22-point second quarter to pull away for the WAC victory Friday night at Canajoharie High School.

Lindsey Hampton led the Lady Panthers with 21 points, while Katarina Agerter had 14 and Kelsey Meca chipped in with 10.

Angelina Clark led Canajoharie with 12 points, while Kylee Rickard had 11 and Victoria Adams chipped in with nine.

Mayfield is slated to host Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville on Monday at 6 p.m. Canajoharie is scheduled to travel to Berne-Knox-Westerlo on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. contest.

BERNE — Taylor Meacham led all scorers with 15 points as Berne-Knox-Westerlo cruised to victory Friday night.

Alexis Wright added 13 points for the Bulldogs, while Regan Smith and Grace Tymchyn added eight points apiece.

Tiffany Hazzard led Fort Plain with six points, while Sarah Florian had three and Sarah Vanasse had two.

The Lady Hilltoppers are scheduled to host Mekeel Christian Academy on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

WELLS — Molly Deshetsky scored 16 points to lead Johnsburg/Minerva to a Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference victory over Wells.

Kate Wimberly scored 13 points for Johnsburg/Minerva (9-5 overall), while Aileen Stevens added 11 points.

Alexis Brooks scored eight points to lead Wells (3-7 overall), while Keara O’Rourke added six points.

The Lady Indians are scheduled to travel to Indian Lake-Long Lake on Monday for a 6:30 p.m. game.
