Mancini fourth at state track meet

STATEN ISLAND — Broadalbin-Perth’s Tino Mancini brought home a fourth-place finish in the shot put from the New York State Public High School Athletic Association indoor track and field championships Saturday at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility.

Mancini, a junior, tuned in a best throw of 53-03.25 to earn his spot on the podium. Quinn Smith of Hampton Bays won the event with a throw of 60-0.

Amsterdam’s Jacob Gomez, a junior, placed 17th in the long jump with his best jump of 20-11.5. Freeport’s Christian Quinn won the event with a jump of 22-11.

Broadalbin-Perth’s Ava Tyler placed 23rd in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 10-0. Orchard Park’s Leah Pasqualetti won the event with a height of 13-0.

Dolgeville’s Anna-Mae Nellis turned in a throw of 43-09.75 to place 15th in the weight throw Saturday. Monique Hardy of Webster Thomas won the event with a throw of 63-10.5.

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk’s Shane Racey and Schalmont’s Mia D’Ambrosio won state championships for Section II.

Racey won the boys pole vault, clearing the bar at 16-02, while D’Ambrosio won the girls 55-meter dash championship with her time of 6.95.
