CANANDAIGUA — The unprecedented 2020 cross country season concluded Saturday at the 2020 Region 3 Championships at Finger Lakes Community College. For the second season in a row, an FMCC runner won the Region 3 title.
Kira Williams was crowned the Region 3 champion for the women and the Fulton-Montgomery men’s team finished fifth in the Region.
Finger Lakes took home the men’s Region 3 team title in the 8K race. No women’s team champion was crown as all five teams in competition were incomplete.
Williams earned champion honors after a time of 24:27.9 in the 5K women’s race. Williams finished the 2020 season unbeaten. Maria Fernandez finished ninth for FMCC with a time of 31:05.3.
Jon Hendley continued leading the men’s team with an 11th-place finish in a time of 30:46. Randy Spraker (36.14) and Ryan Schopmeier (35:51) finished 29th and 30th, respectively. Jackson Rogers crossed the finish line in 32nd place with a time of 38:05 and Dakota Dingman (61:27.7) was 35th.
“We were very fortunate to complete the season without any issue. The Region did a great job on student-athlete safety,” FMCC athletic director Kevin Jones said in a news release. “I’m very proud of our runners on the season that they had.”
