Crouse helps Fort Plain edge OESJ

ST. JOHNSVILLE — Erin Crouse sank a pair of free throws with 12 seconds remaining to lift Fort Plain to a 22-20 victory over Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville in a Montgomery County League girls basketball game Wednesday.

It was the first win for the Lady Hilltoppers since the 2016-17 season, a 42-27 victory over Duanesburg on Feb. 1, 2017. Fort Plain went 0-18 overall last season after not fielding a varsity team in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.

Crouse finished with a team-high 10 points for Fort Plain (1-3 overall), while Tiffany Hazzard finished with six points. Sarah Vanasse (4 points) and Marissa Wilder (2 points) were the only other players to score for the Lady Hilltoppers, who led 10-7 at the half.

Anderson Eggleston scored 10 points to lead Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville, while Sydney Eggleston has six points. Alexis Klock was the only other player to score for the Lady Wolves, finishing with four points.

OESJ (0-3 overall) is scheduled to travel to Amsterdam on Friday for a 5 p.m. contest, while Fort Plain is slated to travel to Amsterdam today for a 5 p.m. game.
