Stanavich hits milestone in Amsterdam win

FONDA — Amsterdam senior Jackie Stanavich scored her 1,000th career point in a 63-40 victory over Fonda-Fultonville on Thursday in a non-league girls basketball game.

Stanavich, who needed eight points to reach 1,000 for her career, scored 10 of her game-high 21 points in the first quarter. Stanavich, who is committed to play college basketball at Division II Mercy College, now has 1,013 career points.

The Lady Rams led 18-5 after one quarter and 40-20 at the half on their way to the win.

Andie Gannon scored 18 points for Amsterdam (10-1 overall), while Sierra Goodson had eight points. Antonia May and Rosie Sculco each had six points for the Lady Rams.

Carly Atty scored 11 points to lead Fonda-Fultonville (6-4 overall), while Kyla Smith added eight points.

The Lady Braves are scheduled to travel to Duanesburg today for a 2 p.m. contest.

ST. JOHNSVILLE — Levi Thomas scored points to lead Fort Plain to a 69-21 victory over Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville in a Montgomery County League boys basketball game Thursday.

The Hilltoppers led 25-9 at the half on their way to the win.

Austin VanGorder finished with 14 points for the Hilltoppers (6-6 overall), while Owin Landry and Stephen Gray each had eight points

Travis LaFountain scored nine points to lead Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville (0-8 overall).

Fort Plain is slated to host Tamarac today at 3 p.m.

The Rams outscored the Braves 30-17 in the second half to pull away for the win.

Yandeel Vazquez scored 12 points for Amsterdam (9-1 overall), while Tyrell Douglas added 10 points.

Nick Hastings scored 17 points to lead Fonda-Fultonville (7-3 overall), while Jackson Cusack added 12 points.
