Boys Soccer Roundup: Mayfield blanks Canajoharie, 6-0

CANAJOHARIE — Britain Goodemote and Kenny Dennis each had a goal and an assist to lead Mayfield to a 6-0 victory over Canajoharie in a Western Athletic Conference boys soccer contest Wednesday.

Christian Scunziamo, Brody Deal, Masen Valachovic and Brody Page also scored for the Panthers. Jake Petoff, Aidan Halloran and Dawson Leach each had an assist for Mayfield, which outshot Canajoharie by an 11-3 margin.

Aiden Martuscello and Sean Foreman combined to make three saves to share the shutout in goal for Mayfield (5-4-1 overall, 5-3-1 WAC), which is scheduled to wrap up its season Friday at Middleburgh

Will Douglass made four stops for Canajoharie, which finished its season with a 2-7 overall record and a 2-7 WAC mark.

OESJ 6, Schoharie 1

ST. JOHNSVILLE — Andrew Snell and Jordan Simzer each scored twice to lead Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville to a victory over Schoharie.

Jacob Snell and Mason Snell also scored for the Wolves, while Andrew Snell had two assists. Max Christensen added an assist for OESJ.

Brennen Parker scored the lone goal for Schoharie.

Travis LaFountain made two saves for the Wolves, while Cody Hellstrom made eight stops for the Indians.

OESJ (10-0 overall, 8-0 WAC) honored seniors Jacob Snell, Conner Clark, Christensen and LaFountain during senior night festivities.

Middleburgh 5, Mekeel Christian 2

MIDDLEBURGH — Austin Johns finished with a hat trick and two assists to power Middleburgh to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Mekeel Christian Academy.

Brendan Ryan had two goals and two assists for the Knights, while Nate Wood added an assist.

Eli Lilienthal scored twice for Mekeel Christian, while Len’s Lima also scored.

Ian Hoop posted six saves for Middleburgh, while Justin Davidson made 10 stops for Mekeel Christian.
