Gloversville sweeps past B-P in Foothills volleyball match

GLOVERSVILLE — The Gloversville volleyball team improved its record to 5-0 overall this season with a 3-0 Foothills Council victory over Broadalbin-Perth Thursday at Gloversville High School.

The Huskies rallied for a 25-15 victory in the first game before going on to post wins of 25-21 and 25-19 to improve their Foothills Council record to 4-0.

Madelyn Avery led Gloversville with 13 kills and 11 digs, while Macey Salvione had nine kills, 14 digs and six aces and Zoie Tesi added five digs and three blocks. Aireana Muhlberger had 23 assists, seven digs and two aces while Alana Biasini finished with three kills and five digs and Allie Salvione had 12 service points.

Lily Mitchell led Broadalbin-Perth with 20 assists and two aces, while Sami Westfall had seven kills and Sophia Rogers added six kills and two blocks to go with four kills from Kiaria Tomlinson.

Western Athletic Conference

Fonda-Fultonville 3, Canajoharie-Fort Plain 0

CANAJOHARIE — Marilyn Whitcavitch recorded 15 kills and four assists to lead Fonda-Fultonville to a 3-0 victory over Canajoharie Fort Plain on game scores of 25-23, 25-17 and 25-13.

Amber Cole had 39 assists for the Lady Braves, while Madisyn Dineen had eight kills and Carolyn Cranker added two kills.

Sarah Paradiso led Canajoharie-Fort Plain with three kills, four blocks, four service points and two aces, while Zavia Allen had eight service points and two aces and Olivia Kennedy finished with five service points and four digs to go with four digs from Samara Mattice and four service points by Talia Viscusi.

Galway 3, OESJ 0

ST. JOHNSVILLE — Galway improved to 3-0 in the WAC and 4-2 overall with a 3-0 win over OESJ (0-1) on game scores of 25-6, 25-7 and 25-8 in league action Thursday at Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville High School.

Carolyn Bruchac finished with 13 service points, four aces and nine digs and two kills for the Golden Eagles, while Julia Reedy had 10 kills, 10 service points and three aces and Sadie Underwood added six kills to go with five kills from Grace O’Brien.

Lady Wolves captain Kaydence Souza finished with 17 digs and 10 assists, while Jade Dygert finished with seven assists and an ace.
