H.S. Volleyball Roundup: Galway sweeps past C-FP, 3-0

GALWAY — Julia Reedy finished with 13 service points, eight kills, seven aces and one block to help Galway to a 3-0 victory over Canajoharie-Fort Plain in a Western Athletic Conference volleyball match Tuesday.

The Golden Eagles won by scores of 25-1, 25-12 and 25-6.

Kailey Jankowski posted 10 digs, five kills and two aces for Galway (5-3 overall, 4-0 WAC), while Carolyn Bruchac notched 10 service points, 10 digs and four aces. Sadie Underwood finished with five kills and four blocks for the Golden Eagles, Diana Colangelo posted four kills and two blocks, Kylee Decker had 17 assists, five digs and three aces, and Jayden DeVellis added 12 digs and two aces.

Galway is slated to travel to Fonda-Fultonville on Thursday for an 11:30 a.m. contest, while Canajoharie-Fort Plain (0-2 overall, 0-2 WAC) is scheduled to host Mayfield on Thursday at 11 a.m.

Mekeel Christian 3, Berne-Knox-Westerlo 0

SCOTIA — Gabriella Luna finished with 18 service points and four aces to lead Mekeel Christian Academy to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Berne-Knox-Westerlo

Mekeel Christian won by scores of 25-16, 25-9 and 25-17.

Mekeel Christian (4-1 overall, 4-1 WAC) is scheduled to host Duanesburg on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo (0-5 overall, 0-5 WAC) is slated to travel to Middleburgh on Thursday for a 5 p.m. contest.

Schoharie 3, Duanesburg 0

DUANESBURG — Racquel Gerstenberger finished with 17 service points, eight aces and eight kills to lead Schoharie to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Duanesburg.

The Indians won by scores of 25-21, 25-20 and 25-17.

Ella Moses had seven service points and two aces for Duanesburg, while Lorel Johnson posted six service points and two digs. Hannah Borski finished with six service points and four aces for the Eagles, while Jahnna Palluti added six service points.

Bishop Gibbons 3, Middleburgh 2

MIDDLEBURGH — Victoria Jaworowski finished with 23 service points, 14 kills and five aces to lead Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons to a five-set Western Athletic Conference victory over Middleburgh.

The Golden Knights won by scores of 25-17, 24-26, 19-25, 25-18 and 25-22.

Kathryn Braun had 29 assists and 23 digs for the Golden Knights.

Jen Moreno-Reyes posted 15 kills for Middleburgh, Anna Hooper had 28 assists and Hallie Gasner had 15 kills, 14 digs and eight blocks.

Foothills Council

Scotia-Glenville 3, Amsterdam 1

AMSTERDAM — Jojo Mustico and Grace Letterman each had eight aces to lead Scotia-Glenville to a Foothills Council victory over Amsterdam on Thursday.

The Tartans won by scores of 25-15, 25-15, 21-25 and 25-8.


Gloversville 3, Mayfield 0

MAYFIELD — Aireana Muhlberger recorded 34 assists, 11 service points and six aces to help Gloversville to a non-league victory over Mayfield.

The Huskies won by scores of 25-23, 25-15 and 25-23.

Macey Salvione posted 14 kills and nine digs for Gloversville (6-0 overall), while Maddy Avery had 13 kills and 13 digs. Zoie Tesi notched four kills and two blocks for the Huskies.

Alissa Wilbur finished with 12 digs, nine service points and five kills for Mayfield (1-2 overall), while Deandra Myers recorded 17 digs, nine kills, eight service points and three aces.

Lila King notched 14 digs, seven service points, one kill and one block for the Lady Panthers, Maddi King had six digs, five service points, four blocks and three kills, and Camie Hart posted 19 assists, 14 digs, six service points and two aces. Lissi Weichel had seven digs and six kills for Mayfield and Brooke Long added three digs and one kill.

Mayfield is scheduled to host Canajoharie-Fort Plain on Thursday at 11 a.m.

Gloversville is slated to travel to Scotia-Glenville on Thursday for a 6 p.m. contest.
