Busy stretch continues at Royal Mountain

CAROGA LAKE — After hosting a two-day Central New York Motocross Racers Association event Saturday and Sunday, Royal Mountain was back in action with its weekly supercross series Wednesday.

Several area riders posted wins, including Gloversville’s Sal Attigliato Jr., Johnstown’s Maxx Miller, St. Johnsville’s Blaire Wilson, Johnstown’s Ethan Cornell, Mayfield’s Jordan Miller, Johnstown’s Hayden Zelich, Amsterdam’s Matthew Hirschfeld and Johnstown’s Michael Ward.

Attigliato Jr. won the 50cc 4-to-6-year-old class and was fourth in the 50cc 4-to-8-year-old open/E-bike class.

Maxx Miller won the mini 60 7-to-11-year-old class. He also was second in the junior mini 9-to-11-year-old and mini 80 9-to-11-year-old classes.

Wilson won the mini quad 50cc class and was fourth in the mini quad 51-90cc class, while Cornell won the mini quad 51-90cc class and was second in the mini quad 50cc class.

Jordan Miller won the quad amateur class and was third in the pit bike modified class.

Zelich won the schoolboy class and was second in both the 122-125 two-stroke and 122-open amateur classes.

Ward won the plus-50 open class and was third in the plus-30 expert class.

Four riders posted wins in multiple classes Wednesday.

Tug Greenslet of Bennington, Vt., won the 122-125 two-stroke and 122-250 amateur classes, while Ghent’s Sebastian Witherell won the 50cc 4-to-8-year-old open/E-bike) and 50cc 7-and-8-year-old/E-bike classes.

Freehold’s Caiden West won the junior mini 9-to-11-year-old and mini 80 9-to-11-year-old classes, while Clifton Park’s Gavin Betts won the mini 80cc 12-to-15-year-old and open mini 10-to-16-year-old classes.

Other winners included and Livonia’s Harlee Wood (women’s 85-250cc), Salem’s Zachary Johnson (122-250 novice), Stillwater’s Tim Flanagan (122-open expert), Johnsonville’s David Nitto (122-open amateur), Niverville’s Mason Haberek (pit bike – mod), Blake Fountain (pit bike -stock), Fort Edward’s Lawrence Havens (plus-30 amateur), Fort Ann’s Edward Ladd III (plus-30 expert), Ballston Spa’s Cody Milanese (quad novice), East Berne’s Alissa Duncan (quad schoolboy) and Dominick Popp of Brandon, Vt. won the 122-open novice class.

Several local riders posted top-five finishes in their respective classes.

In the 122-open novice class, Johnstown’s Stephen Young was third and Canajoharie’s C.J. Renzi was fourth.

Young also was second in the 122-250 novice class, while Canajoharie’s Tyler Dygert was third and Amsterdam’s Joey Vitalis was fifth. Vitalis also was second in the pit bike modified class.

In the pit bike stock class, Broadalbin’s Paul Gifford was second, Johnstown’s Jason Morrison was third and Gloversville’s Kenny Holliday was fourth.

Johnstown’s Brandon Handy was third in the 122-250 amateur class, while Fonda’s Charles Rose was fourth.

Gloversville’s Devin Buyce was fourth in the 122-125 two-stroke class, while Nelliston’s Brandon Dygert was fifth. Buyce also was fifth in the schoolboy class.

Johnstown’s Kip Simonds was third in the junior mini 9-to-11-year-old class, while Pattersonville’s Eason Baker was fourth.

Baker also was second in the mini 60 7-to-11-year-old class, while Simonds was fifth.

St. Johnsville’s Burton Wilson Jr. was fifth in the 50cc 4-to-8-year-old open/E-bike class and fourth in the 50cc 4-to-6-year-old class.

Johnstown’s Brennan Hart was fifth in the 50cc 7-and-8-year-old/E-bike class.

Johnstown’s Bennett Melita was second in the mini 80 12-to-15-year-old and open mini 10-16-year-old classes. He also was fourth in the schoolboy class.

Gloversville’s Easton Rizzo was fourth in the mini quad 50cc class, while St. Johnsville’s Kaci Bare was second in the mini quad 51-90cc class.

Caroga Lake’s John Livingston was fourth in the open mini 10-to-16-year-old class.

Pattersonville’s Mike Baker was second in the plus-40 amateur class and third in the plus-30 amateur class, while Gloversville’s Keith Orr was fourth in the plus-40 amateur class.

Johnstown’s Jared Leto was fifth in the plus-30 amateur class, while Gloversville’s Christopher Royal was third in the plus-50 open class.

In the quad novice class, Mayfield’s Evan Lehr was second, Amsterdam’s Kolby Krutz was third and Mayfield’s Zachary VanNostrand was fifth.

Gloversville’s Tyler Rizzo was second in the quad schoolboy class, Amsterdam’s Mia Richard was third and Fultonville’s Kendra Cary was fourth.

A total of 211 riders were in attendance Wednesday at Royal.

Royal Mountain will be back in action next Wednesday, with racing starting at 7 p.m. The annual Royal Mountain Hillclimb is scheduled for July 18.
