High schools: Broadalbin-Perth girls reach soccer semifinals

Broadalbin-Perth advanced Saturday to the Section II Class B girls’ soccer tournament semifinals with a 2-0 overtime win against Ichabod Crane.

In Broadalbin-Perth’s win, the teams played to a 0-0 tie through regulation. Brooke Bush scored off an assist from Jackie Fisher in the first overtime, then Fisher scored in the second overtime off an assist from Jules Huckans.

Mairead Marsden made seven saves for Broadalbin-Perth and Ashles Ames had 25 for Ichabod Crane.

Also in Saturday’s quarterfinals, top-ranked Schalmont advanced with a 6-0 win against Tamarac. Gianna Viscusi scored two goals, while Gianna Cirilla, Gabriela Amoroso, Simone Cassano and Payton Graber each added one. Cassano contributed two assists, and Olivia Badalucco and Annalise Tyler each had one. Georgia Clark made three saves in the shutout.

In other Class B quarterfinal games, Holy Names won 3-1 against Greenville and Mechanicville advanced via penalty kicks following a 1-1 tie with Voorheesville.

In Tuesday’s semifinals at Stillwater, Schalmont will play Holy Names and Mechanicville will play Broadalbin-Perth.


Northville breezed past Germantown in a Section II Class D boys’ soccer tournament quarterfinal matchup. Jacob Frank, Colin Morehouse and Miles Weaver each had two goals in the win, while JT Artikuski registered a goal and an assist. Frank added two assists, and Wyatt Sira produced three assists.

Loudonville Christian defeated Hartford 2-1.

In Tuesday’s semifinals at Gloversville, OESJ will play Loudonville Christian and top-seeded Northville will face Argyle.


Britain Goodemote scored each goal for Mayfield in its 3-1 win against Canajoharie in the Section II Class C boys’ soccer quarterfinals.

Kenny Dennis, Brice Williams and Christian Scunziano assisted Goodemote’s goals.

Cody Haig scored Canajoharie’s goal.

Aiden Martuscello made five saves for Mayfield and Canajoharie’s Andrew Meka made five saves.

In other Class C tournament games, Waterford-Halfmoon won 1-0 against Chatham, Middleburgh advanced 2-1 past Lake George in a double-overtime game and Maple Hill won 4-0 against Stillwater.

In Wednesday’s semifinals at La Salle, top-ranked Maple Hill will play Waterford-Halfmoon and Mayfield will play Middleburgh.


Averill Park defeated Scotia-Glenville 2-1 in the Section II Class A boys’ soccer tournament quarterfinals. Carter Morse had a goal and an assist in the win, while Carter Dee added a goal for Averill Park. Noah Murdock had the goal off an assist from Connor Raven for Scotia-Glenville, which received 10 saves from Zach Place.

La Salle won 2-0 against Gloversville and Queensbury advanced past South Glens Falls via penalty kicks following a 2-2 tie. For Queensbury, Jake Afsar-Keshmiri and Ian Rathbun each scored a goal, while Gavin Parker and Caden French each had a score for South Glens Falls.

In Tuesday’s semifinals at Mohonasen, top-ranked La Salle will play Queensbury and Averill Park will play Albany Academy.
