High Schools: Cusack shines bright in Fonda-Fultonville boys’ basketball win over Northville

Jackson Cusack hit six 3-pointers and finished with 22 points as part of Fonda-Fultonville’s 59-34 Western Athletic Conference boys’ basketball win at Northville Wednesday night.

Nick Hastings had 11 points for the Braves, while Jacob Frank had 12 points for the Falcons and Dan VanNostrand had 11.

Dane Coates scored six of his 13 points and Zach Brink scored five of his 11 in a 19-4 second-quarter run that pointed Berne-Knox-Westerlo toward a 62-31 WAC win at Schoharie. Mark Edwards paced the Bulldogs with 17 points and Dan Barnhardt had 15 for Schoharie.

Owen Sherman poured in 30 points, Lukas Sherman scored 18 and Ryan Dow had 12 to lead Schuylerville past Amsterdam 64-60 in the Foothills Council. Caesar Thompson scored 16 points for the Rams and Jhai Vellon had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Fort Plain beat Canajoharie 69-60 behind Levi Thomas’ 17 points in a non-league matchup. Jack Montanye paced the Cougars with 18 points, and L.A. Fairley had 13 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots..


Kaijah Fowler scored 14 points and Charlotte Nare had 11 to lead Canajoharie over Fort Plain 37-33 in a girls’ non-league basketball game. Erin Crouse had 14 points for Fort Plain. The Cougars outscored the Hilltoppers in the second half 24-15 to rally for the win.

Duanesburg got 24 points from Allison O’Hanlon, and ran its record to 12-2 overall, with a 56-40 non-league win over Albany Academy. O’Hanlon sank six 3-points baskets, four of them coming in a 17-6 second-quarter flurry when Duanesburg built a 30-16 advantage in a game matching state-ranked teams..

Callie Chevalier delivered 19 points, MK Lescault netted 14 and Carlie Rzeszotarski chipped in with 10 as Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake defeated Fonda-Fulonville 54-35. The Spartans raced to an 18-4 first-quarter lead. Marilyn Whitcavitch led the Braves with 11 points and Kyla Smith had 10.


Joe Flood won the 50 and 100 freestyle and swam a leg on a first-place 200 free relay to help Glens Falls top Gloversville/Mayfield 96-66 in a boys’ Foothills Council swim meet. Dane Dillenbeck won the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly, and Logan Oathout won the 100 breaststroke, for Gloversville/Mayfield.

Colin Cotter (39.93) of Broadalbin-Perth won the boys’ Alpine race and Matthew Moeckel (40.43) of Saratoga was second at the Shenendehowa Invitational at West Mountain.


Duanesburg/Schoharie got pins from Caroline Ash (110), Zoey Lints (138) , Daniel Stealey (152) and Tyler Lloyd (285) in a 36-27 non-league wrestling win over Scotia-Glenville/Galway. Tanner Knaggs (118), Calvin Conti (126), Lyndon Barber (145) and Alwalid Bourkia (189) recorded pins for Scotia-Glenville/Mayfield.
