Canajoharie picked up a 57-54 Western Athletic Conference boys’ basketball win Monday against Schoharie.
LA Fairley led Canajoharie with 19 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists. Also for Canajoharie, Aundray Fowler had 13 points. Schoharie’s Quin Barton had 23 points and Dan Bernhardt scored 10.
Canajoharie trailed 26-24 at halftime, but brought a three-point lead into the fourth.
Berne-Knox-Westerlo won 94-41 against Middleburgh. Mark Edwards had 24 points in the win, while AJ Wright added 19 and Zach Brink scored 14. For Middleburgh, Gage Calitri scored 17 points.
Dolgeville topped Mayfield 68-58 in a non-league game. Greg Gonyea led Dolgeville with 29 points, while the team received 13 points and 16 rebounds from Camryn Comstock. For Mayfield, Jake Petoff led with 14 points, Cameron Abdella produced 13 points and eight assists, and Hunter Jones scored 11 points.
Scotia-Glenville produced a 48-36 Foothills Council girls’ basketball win at Gloversville. Tori LeMorta scored 15 points in the win, Keeley Kristel contributed 14 and Karaline McCarthy registered nine. For Gloversville, Lucia Bouchard led the way with 11 points, Zoie Tesi added 10 and Angelina Christman scored nine. Scotia-Glenville led 15-3 after one quarter and took a 39-23 lead into the fourth.
Berne-Knox-Westerlo won 73-34 against Canajoharie in Western Athletic Conference play. Alexis Wright had 38 points, while Grace Tymchyn added 15. For Canajoharie, Kaijah Fowler scored 23 points.
Northville collected a 37-26 non-conference win against Hadley-Luzerne. Hailey Monroe scored 16 points in the win, which saw Northville lead 11-10 after one quarter and outscored Hadley-Luzerne 14-2 in the second. Abriel Monroe added 10 points in the win. For Hadley-Luzerne, Jordanna Kenny and Madison Lent each had nine points.
Fonda-Fultonville won 65-57 against Johnstown. Kyla Smith had 18 points in the win, while Quincy Lake added 16, Carly Atty scored 14, and Marilyn Whitcavitch produced 10 points and 12 rebounds. Jaidyn Chest led Johnstown with 25 points and Jayden Wilson scored 18.
In Western Athletic Conference girls’ bowling competition, Fort Plain secured a 3-1 win against Canajoharie. Emma Oldick had a 169-479 to lead Fort Plain, which also received a 148-435 from Bri Krutz and a 142-419 from Shantel Kretser. For Canajoharie, Avery Merchant’s 187-487 and Maura DiMezza’s 178-476 led the team, and Maya Evans contributed a 169-540.
In boys’ bowling, Fort Plain’s Anthony Paradiso had a 212-621, but Canajoharie scored a 4-0 Western Athletic Conference win. Tanner Ackernecht’s 218-595 and Dereck Mereness’ 225-585 led Canajoharie, while Ryan Beam contributed a 168-474. Ian Zuppardi had a 203-598 for Fort Plain.
