Schools: Amsterdam tops Scotia-Glenville in boys’ basketball playoffs

Caesar Thompson scored a career-high 34 points as Amsterdam defeated Scotia-Glenville 76-61 in the quarterfinals of the Section II Class boys’ basketball tournament on Sunday.

Jhai Vellon had 13 points and five assists for the No. 4-seeded Rams (16-5), who had split their two-game Foothills Council series with Scotia during the regular season.

In other Class A games, Hudson Falls topped Averill Park 66-36 and Mekeel Christian defeated Lansingburgh 60-34.

Colten Christensen scored 18 points to lead OESJ to a 61-59 victory over Loudonville Christian School in the quarterfinals of the Section II Class D boys’ basketball tournament on Sunday.

Mason Snell scored 12 points for OESJ (12-9), and Paetyn Logan-Dilllenbeck added 11.

In other Class D games, Northville downed Fort Ann, 44-28; North Warren defeated Hartford, 57-48; Argyle topped Heatly, 51-38.

Jacob Frank and Dan VanNostrand each scored  13 points for Northville.

Sean Evans led North Warren with 17 points, and Ray Harrington scored 22 for Hartford.

Hunter Ingram scored 18 points for Argyle, and Justin McWhorter had 14 points and 16 rebounds.

In a Class B quarterfinal played Saturday, Catholic Central pulled out a 62-61 victory over Fonda-Fultonville despite having trailed by 11 in the first quarter.

Darien Moore scored 28 points and had 10 rebounds for the Crusaders.

Allen Booth made six 3-pointers and scored 23 points for Fonda, Nick Hastings had 18 points and seven rebounds and Connor Weaver scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
