Amsterdam Mohawks keep win streak alive, top Glens Falls in PGCBL

AMSTERDAM — Glens Falls made Amsterdam work for it, but the Mohawks won their seventh consecutive PGCBL game Friday, 7-4, at Shuttleworth Park.

Amsterdam (27-4) got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the second. Cade Bush hit a two-out double. Josh Overbeek walked. Bush came in to score on Mark Black’s single, and Overbeek moved to third. He then came across on a wild pitch for a 2-0 lead.

Glens Falls scored three runs in the top of the sixth, fueled by Phoenix Bowman’s two-run double, to take a 3-2 lead. The Mohawks, however, tied it at 3 in the bottom of the inning. Ian Perutz, who had walked and moved to third on Zach Gardiner’s single, scored on Cameron Love’s fielder’s choice.

The Mohawks went ahead for good with four runs in the seventh. Gage Miller had a two-run single, Gardiner had a sacrifice fly and two more were scored on a wild pitch and passed ball.

Mohawks pitchers threw 13 strikeouts, led by Aidan Kidd’s six in four innings.
