GLENS FALLS — The Amsterdam Mohawks put an exclamation point on their dominant regular season Friday night grabbing a 16-6 road win over the Glens Falls Dragons (6-37).
After just plating one run in the first four frames, the visitors scored in each of the final five innings, topping off the evening with a five-run ninth. The bottom half of the lineup did plenty of damage as Cade Bush, Josh Overbeek and Nick Giamarusti — sixth, seventh and ninth in the order — went a combined 6-for-10, scoring five runs and knocking in six.
Cole Cheatham made his eighth and best start of the season in the victory. The lefty went five innings, tying a season-long, allowing no runs on one hit and striking out a season-high 11 batters.
The Mohawks (39-6) begin their journey toward a 10th PGCBL title Saturday night in the East Division first round at 6:35 p.m. at Shuttleworth Park against the Oneonta Outlaws (23-23). Amsterdam won the season series against Oneonta taking four out of five meetings, including all three at home.
