Royal Mountain supercross draws season-high 256 entries


Burton Wilson IV (537) and Hunter Broe (144) race in the first 50cc open/E-bike 4-to-8-year-old moto during supercross competition Wednesday at Royal Mountain Ski Area in Caroga Lake.

CAROGA LAKE – The 10th race of the season saw 10 area riders claim wins during supercross competition Wednesday at Royal Mountain Ski Area.

Johnstown’s Brett Unser, Kip Simonds, Ethan Cornell and Michael Ward all notched wins, while Amsterdam’s Joey Vitalis and Mia Richards also won.

Fultonville’s Adam Dutcher, Pattersonville’s Eason Baker, Gloversville’s Shane Graham and Northville’s Troy Palmer also registered victories on a night when there were a season-high 256 entries on hand.

Vitalis and Graham both won both of their motos to claim the victories in the pit bike mod and pit bike stock classes, respectively.

Unser was second in the first moto and first in the second moto to win the 122-250 amateur class. Unser also was second in the 122-125 two-stroke class.

Simonds swept both motos to win the junior mini 9-to-11-year-old class, while Dutcher won both motos to claim the victory in the plus-30 amateur class.

Baker won the mini 80 9-to-11-year-old class. Baker also was fourth in the junior mini 9-to-11-year-old class and fifth in the mini 60 7-to-11-year-old class.

Cornell won both of his motos to win the mini quad 51-90cc class.

Ward swept both motos to win the plus-50 open class. Ward also was fourth in the plus-30 expert class.

Palmer won both motos to pick up the victory in the quad amateur class, while Richards was second in the first moto and first in the second moto to win the quad schoolboy/girl 12-to-16-year-old class. Richards also was third in the quad novice class.

Three riders notched win in multiple classes Wednesday.

Ravena’s Nicholas Touzin won the 122-125 two-stroke and 122-250 novice classes.

Ghent’s Sebastian Witherell won the 50cc open/E-bike 4-to-8-year-old and 50cc/E-bike 7-and-8-year-old classes.

Selkirk’s Hudson Vagele won the mini 80 12-to-15-year-old class and the open mini 10-to-16-year-old class.

Other winners included Salem’s Zachary Johnson (122-open novice), Selkirk’s Howard Vagele IV (122-open amateur), Johnsonville’s Brian Falzo (122-open expert), Corinth’s Colton Tubbs (50cc 4-6), East Berne’s Finn Smith (mini 60 7-11), Maryland’s Jayden Jaszcar (mini quad 50cc), Johnsonville’s Brian Falzo (plus-30 expert), Yorkville’s Jamie Nimey (plus-40 amateur), Ballston Spa’s Cody Milanese (quad novice), Selkirk’s Henry Vagele (schoolboy) and Schaghticoke’s Britney St. Gelais (women 85-250cc).

Several area riders posted top-five finishes in their respective classes Wednesday.

Fort Plain’s Cooper Reynolds was second in the 122-open novice class, while Canajoharie’s C.J. Renzi was third. Renzi was second in the 122-250 novice class and Reynolds was third.

In the 122-250 amateur class, Galway’s Trevor Patterson was third, Gloversville’s Anthony Attigliato was fourth and Gloversville’s Devin Buyce was fifth. Patterson also was fourth in the open mini 10-to-16-year-old class.

Fonda’s Charles Rose was second in the 122-open amateur class, while Johnstown’s Hayden Zelich was fifth.

Gloversville’s Sal Attigliato Jr. was third in the 50cc open/E-bike 4-to-8-year-old class. Attigliato also was fourth in the 50cc/E-bike 7-and-8-year-old class.

Nelliston’s Brandon Dygert was fifth in the 122-125 two-stroke class, while Johnstown’s Adam Handy was third in the plus-30 expert class.

In the 50cc 4-to-6-year-old class, St. Johnsville’s Burton Wilson IV was second, Amsterdam’s Maverick Manzer was fourth and Johnstown’s Abel Handy was fifth.

St. Johnsville’s Blaire Wilson was second in the mini quad 51-90cc class, while Mayfield’s Chloe VanNostrand was fourth.

Johnstown’s Alec Yerdon was second in the pit bike mod class and Johnstown’s Matthew Burlett was third.

Mayfield’s Jordan Miller was second in the quad amateur class. She also was fourth in the pit bike mod class.

In the pit bike stock class, Mayfield’s Jack Battisti was second, Broadalbin’s Dan Gifford was fourth and Gloversville’s Kenny Holliday was fifth.

Pattersonville’s Mike Baker was third in the plus-30 amateur class and Johnstown’s Sean Smith was fourth. Baker also was second in the plus-40 amateur class.

Gloversville’s Keith Orr was third in the plus-50 open class, Fultonville’s Cayden Cary was fifth in the quad novice class and Fultonville’s Kendra Cary was third in the quad schoolboy/girl 12-to-16-year-old class.
