High schools: OESJ tops Canajoharie in girls’ soccer


HIGH SCHOOLS All the game’s goals were scored in a 12-minute span in the first half, but in the end, OESJ topped Canajoharie 2-1 in a Western Athletic Conference girls’ soccer game Thursday.

OESJ’s Anderson Eggleston got the scoring started at 27:28. Canajoharie’s Giana Murphy found Korynn Kretser for the tying goal in the 33rd minute, but OESJ’s Jordan DeNinno got the go-ahead goal in the 39th minute.

Tori Blakeslee made nine saves for Canajoharie, while Jade Bonneau saved four for OESJ.


Kofi Jack had a hat trick to go with one assist in leading Scotia-Glenville’s boys’ soccer team to a non-league 5-1 win over Glens Falls in the Foothills Cup tournament.

Xavier DeLuca added two goals and an assist for the Tartans, while Noah Murdock and Quinn Fascuiglion each had an assist. Zachary Place made five saves. Landan Phipps scored Glens Falls’ goal, and Ayden Grieve saved five shots.

In the other Foothills Cup contest, Schuylerville topped Broadalbin-Perth 2-0. The Black Horses got goals in the last five minutes of each half, from Connor Battle and Sam Tyler. Griffin Brophy made six saves for Schuylerville, including a breakaway.
