High schools: Fonda-Fultonville football improves to 7-0 with another impressive win

HIGH SCHOOLS – Fonda-Fultonville football solidified its position atop the Section II Class C North Division Friday night by topping Cobleskill-Richmondville 47-6. 

The Braves improved to 7-0 as Jonathan Cranker had touchdown runs of 63 and 36 yards, and caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Jackson Cusack. Peyton Webber, Jackson Croucher, Owen Hicks and Karsen Bulan also scored for Fonda-Fultonville. 

Cobleskill-Richmondville got a 41-yard touchdown pass from Caleb Hantho to Kyber Henry.

In Class D, Canajoharie/Fort Plain took a major step toward wrapping up a playoff spot by picking up a 16-0 win over Voorheesville. 

Averill Park used a big second quarter to pull away for a 33-12 win over Amsterdam in Class A action. Tied 6-6 after the first quarter, the Warriors put up 21 points in the second quarter to lead 27-6 at the half. Amsterdam got within 15 after three quarters before Averill Park put the game away in the fourth.


Broadalbin-Perth’s Alex Rogers put up five goals in the Patriots’ 7-0 Foothills Council win over Hudson Falls. Jack Holland added a goal and an assist, Massimo Pasquarelli also scored and Landon Russom provided three assists.

Five different players scored, led by a pair of goals from Gavin Rittenhouse, to lead Glens Falls to a 6-0 win over Gloversville. Landan Phipps, Nate DiFiore, Joe Frankenfeld and Duvaney Mills also scored.

Jaidyn Chest scored both of Mayfield’s goals in a 2-1 Western Athletic Conference girls’ soccer win over Galway. Madison Chase and Cloey Dopp served up assists for the Panthers.

Schoharie’s Haley Drinon scored the winner in overtime off an assist from Lily Ballard in a 1-0 victory over OESJ. Julianna Slater recorded the shutout with eight saves for Schoharie, while OESJ keeper Jade Bonneau finished with four saves.

Northville beat Duanesburg 2-1 as Ciara Thompson had a goal and an assist for the Falcons. Leah Valovic also scored for Northville, and Lily Klippel had an assist. Duanesburg’s goal was scored by Molly Laudato.

Talor Ferrucci’s hat trick powered Fonda-Fultonville’s 6-2 win over Fort Plain. Nadia Buanno and Talia Anderson added a goal and an assist each in the win, and Emma Crahan also scored. Madison Delgado and Chloe Sickler scored for Fort Plain.

Glens Falls picked up a 3-0 Foothills Council win against Gloversville. Ava Pirozzolo and Ciara Hirsch gave Glens Falls a 2-0 lead in the first 3:30 of the match, and Clara Avery also scored. Gloversville goalie Jalyn Smith finished with 10 saves.

Broadalbin-Perth beat Hudson Falls 6-0 behind two goals each from Aubrey Fisher and Jillian Sassanella. Mianna Barboza and Olivia Rogers also scored for the Patriots, and Mairead Marsden recorded the shutout with three saves. For Hudson Falls, Katie Mitchell stopped 16 shots.


In non-league girls’ volleyball, Saratoga Springs got eight kills from Sam Tracy and 13 assists from Gabby Kholstinin in a 25-20, 23-25, 25-17, 25-12 win over Mayfield. For Mayfield, Brooke Long led the way with six kills, five aces and nine digs, and Meara Fitzgerald contributed 13 assists.
