High schools: Scotia field hockey shuts out Gloversville

GLOVERSVILLE – Autumn Kramer and Maddie Darling both collected three goals, and Scotia-Glenville defeated Gloversville 10-0 in a Foothills Council field hockey game Thursday.

Annabelle Wheeler, Maddy Horan, Sam Baccari and Morgan Westbrook also connected for the Tartans, and Maya Westbrook totaled three saves. Three of the Tartans’ goals came on penalty strokes. Felix Clo made 14 saves for Gloversville.

Ava Barker scored two goals in the first quarter and completed a hat trick in the third frame in leading Johnstown past Glens Falls 7-0 in another Foothills Council matchup. Cole Krempa and Emily Pertell both had two goals for the Lady Bills, while Ayaka Sasaki had two assists and Krempa had one.

SNELL SCORES FIVE

Andrew Snell had a hat trick in the first half and tacked on two more goals in the second period to lift OESJ past Saratoga Catholic 5-2 in a non-league boys’ soccer game. Snell had three unassisted goals while Colton Christensen and Logan Snell gained assists for OESJ. Jacob Hajos and Hunter Fales scored for the Saints.

GLOVERSVILLE IN VOLLEYBALL SWEEP

In Foothills Council girls’ volleyball, Zoie Tesi accumulated 13 kills, 10 digs and six aces, and Allie Salvione had 18 assists, in Gloversville’s 25-19, 25-23, 25-9 win over Schuylerville. Jackie Rattray added five kills for Gloversville, and Angelina Christman had seven digs. Miranda Mash paced Schuylerville with eight assists, four kills and six digs, and Sophia Wahl had four kills and four digs.

South Glens Falls went to 8-1 in the Foothills with a 22-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-14 comeback win over Johnstown. Haley Corse had seven aces, 10 service points and 10 assists for the Bulldogs, Sydney Hart had seven kills, and Malia Dake had 15 digs and five aces. Hannah Maxson had six kills and six digs for Johnstown, Deanna Beaupre had five kills, and Camille Gray had 10 digs and seven service points.  

Queensbury had its defense working in a 25-6, 25-8, 25-11 Foothills Council girls’ volleyball win over Amsterdam.

Hannah Borski had 12 kills, 16 digs, 10 service points and four aces for Duanesburg as it outlasted Middleburgh 25-16, 12-25, 25-21, 19-25, 15-8 in the Western Athletic Conference. Kayla Palluti had 10 service points, five aces and eight digs for the Eagles.
