FMCC Roundup: Women’s volleyball places eighth at nationals

ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Fulton-Montgomery Community College women’s volleyball team finished eighth at the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Tournament.
The eighth-seeded Lady Raiders wrapped up the tournament with a 3-1 loss to 10th-seeded Finger Lakes Community College on Saturday in the seventh-place match.

Finger Lakes won by scores of 25-20, 27-25, 20-25 and 25-18.

Kaidyn VanDelinder posted 13 kills and two solo blocks for Finger Lakes (31-12 overall), while Megan Sanford recorded 10 kills. Sage Barnedo finished with 33 assists and six digs for FInger Lakes, Brooke DeGroff had 12 digs, Meghan Johnson had 10 digs and seven kills, and Olivia Sheehan added 17 digs and two kills.

Krystal McSpirit registered 14 kills and two solo blocks for FMCC, Madelyn Avery notched 16 digs, nine kills and two aces, and Sadie Blowers recorded 12 digs and six kills. Deandra Myers posted 16 digs, five kills and three aces for the Lady Raiders, while Alivia Wilson added 11 digs and two aces.

FMCC, which went 1-3 at the three-day national tourney, finished its season with a 26-6 overall record.


JOHNSTOWN – Kennyh Hardeman finished 25 points, 11 rebounds and five steals to help the Fulton-Montgomery Community College men’s basketball team post a 90-80 victory over Clinton Community College in its home opener Saturday.

Jelani Moreno posted 20 points, 11 rebounds and for assists for the Raiders, while Nahjhime Kirton had 17 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and two steals. Matthew Boyle added 13 points and three assists for FMCC, which led 51-41 at halftime.

Damion Fiducia finished with 16 points to lead Clinton, while Prentice Miller posted 14 points. Spencer Daby (12 points) and Kymari Hanley (11) also hit double figures for the Cougars.
FMCC (2-0 overall) is scheduled to host Herkimer on Thursday at 7 p.m.
