LATHAM — Section 2 announced Wednesday that it has hired Doug Gejay as its new executive director.
Gejay, who currently serves as the section’s director of finance, marketing and sponsorships, will assume the executive director role on July 1, following the retirement of current executive director Ed Dopp. Dopp has served in that role since May 1, 2017.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Doug as our new Executive Director,” Section 2 President Matt Stein said in a release announcing the move. “Doug brings a wealth of experience within Section 2 and I look forward to working alongside him in his new role.”
Gejay has served in his current position with the section since 2018. Prior to that, he spent 10 years working for the Capital District YMCA, last holding the position of senior director at the Guilderland branch. Gejay resides in Guilderland with his wife, Megan, a teacher in the Guilderland Central School District.
“I am looking forward to my new role with Section 2, building on the success of my predecessors, working on behalf of our member schools and most importantly our student-athletes,” Gejay said in the release.
