HIGH SCHOOLS – Fonda-Fultonville scored at least one run in each inning, and eight in the sixth, on its way to an 18-2 Western Athletic Conference baseball victory against Berne-Knox-Westerlo on Wednesday.
Logan Yaggle had four singles and three RBIs in the win, Colin Gawlak had a triple and two singles, and William Hernigle had a double as part of a four-hit day.
Blake Shaver had an RBI single for B-K-W.
OESJ beat Middleburgh 8-5, led by Chris Schmidtmann’s two-run inside-the-park home run. Collin Eakin added a double and a single for OESJ. Middleburgh’s Ben Croote ripped a pair of doubles.
Galway played eight runs in the third and four in the fifth to pick up a 12-2, five-innings win over Mayfield. Sam Neahr and Eli Tompkins drove in two runs apiece for Galway, while Cameron Abdella singled twice and drove in a run for Mayfield.
OESJ SOFTBALL VICTORIOUS
OESJ earned a 7-6 win against Middleburgh in a Western Athletic Conference softball game that ended after five innings. Brooklyn Smith and Jade Dygert each had a bases-clearing triple in the second inning, then Smith had an RBI double in the fifth to provide the game-winning run.
Galway topped Mayfield 7-4. Amber Kolpakas had two doubles and three RBIs to lead Galway, while Alaina Aschmutat had a two-RBI double. Courtney Smith earned the win with seven strikeouts in 4 2-3 innings. For Mayfield, Kaylee Klymkow scored three runs.
