Pairings were announced Tuesday for the Section 2 baseball tournaments, with first-round action set to get underway Wednesday.
The top seeds for the tournaments are Shenendehowa (Class AA), Albany Academy (Class A), Mechancville (Class B), Chatham (Class CC), Saratoga Catholic (Class C) and Fort Ann (Class D).
After Wednesday’s first-round action, quarterfinals are scheduled for Friday, with six semifinal doubleheaders set for neutral sites on Monday.
Championships will be held at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy. For the second-straight season, Class AA will be a best-of-three championship series, with games set for May 24, 26 and 28.
The Class A championship game will be held May 26, the Class B final is on May 24, the finals for Class C and CC are on May 25 and the Class D championship game is on May 27. The class C and CC winners will meet in a playoff on May 27 at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium to determine which team moves on to the state playoffs.

FONDA-FULTONVILLE SWEEPS WAC MEET
Fonda-Fultonville swept the boys’ and girls’ team titles in the Western Athletic Conference track and field championships.
The Fonda-Fultonville boys dominated, finishing with 202.5 points. Mayfield/Northville (142) was the runner-up, with Berne-Knox-Westerlo (72), Galway (56) and Duanesburg (50) completing the top five.
Three different Fonda-Fultonville boys won three events apiece. Bennett Melita won the 1,600 meters in four minutes, 50.56 seconds and the 3,200 in 10:01.51, Landon Rose won the 100 meters in 11.36 seconds and the long jump with a mark of 20 feet, 10 inches, and Michael Carpenter won the 400 hurdles (58.56) while tying for first in the pole vault (10-6) with Mayfield/Northville’s Dylan Merk.
Fonda-Fultonville also got a win from Mathieu Dettenrieder in the 3,000 steeplechase (10:50.00), Exavier Garcia in the 400 (53.14) and Ty Sanges in the 800 (2:07.58), and the team swept all three relays.
Berne-Knox-Westerlo got wins from Arlan Wright in the 110 hurdles (16.10) and Locke Gerken in the high jump (5-10), Galway’s Thomas Villano swept the shot put (42-5.5) and discus (130-03), Mekeel Christian’s Oryan DeJesus won the 200 (23.94) and Mayfield/Northville’s Chase Mitchell won the triple jump (41-0.75).
The girls’ competition was considerably closer, with Fonda-Fultonville (165.666) beating out Mayfield/Northville (154), followed by Berne-Knox-Westerlo (60), Canajoharie (56) and Fort Plain (47).
Leading Fonda-Fultonville were Isabella Miller with wins in the 2,000 steeplechase (8:31.52) and 3,000 meters (11:50.79) and Adrianna Wojcik with victories in the pole vault (8-6) and 100 hurdles (16.12), plus Emma Crahan with the win in the shot put (32-9.75) and a team win in the 3,200 relay.
Mayfield/Northville’s Hannah Hoffman won three individual events — the 100 (13.03), 200 (27.65) and long jump (16-4.5) — and was part of a 400 relay win. Abigail Chest won the 400 (1:04.00) and was part of Mayfield/Northville’s 1,600 relay win, and Karla Hill captured the high jump (4-10).
Duanesburg’s Estella Hyde won the 800 (2:36.88) and 1,500 (5:21.06), Fort Plain’s Jordan DeNinno won the 400 hurdles (1:14.69) and triple jump (31-9), and Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s Faith Coates won the discus throw (107-10).
COLUMBIA DOWNS MOHONASEN IN SOFTBALL
Gianna Lenartz had a double, single and two RBIs as Columbia defeated Mohonasen 12-6 in the first round of the Section 2 Class A softball tournament. Teagan Kreshil had two singles for Columbia, which had back-to-back five-run innings in the third and fourth. Emma Warner added a double. Maritza Gonzalez and Kate LeClerc had two singles each for Mohonasen.
Chloe Constantine homered and singled as Catholic Central/Bishop Gibbons earned a 2-1 Class B victory over Greenville.
Sophia Wahl has a triple, single and three RBIs to help Schuylerville past Rensselaer/Loudonville Christian/Doane Stuart 6-0. Sophie Bodnar added a double, single and two RBIs, and Emilee Archer had two singles.
Mechanicville’s Jenna Tesoriero was 2 for 3 in a 6-2 victory over Schalmont. Paige Rogers added a triple and RBI, while Brianna Blake and Emma LaPierre each had a double and RBI, as Mechanicville moved on. Annalise Tyler was 2 for 4 with an RBI, as Schalmont’s season came to an end.
Fonda-Fultonville advanced to the next round with a 6-1 victory over Albany Academy. Madeline Mott tossed 5 2-3 innings, without allowing an earned run. She struck out 10 and walked one. Emma Powers got the final four out to complete the win, striking out three. Emily Furnare was 3 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs. Grace Furnare and Powers each tacked on two hits and an RBI.
Riley Sitcer had a triple and two RBIs to lead Coxsackie-Athens to a 4-1 win over Cohoes. Jasa Cruz added two singles, and Leigha Wiley tossed a complete-game one-hitter.
Zailey Baker drove in three runs, Leigha Barnaby and Kara Bacon each had three hits as Warrensburg beat Duanesburg 7-0 in Class C. One of Barnaby’s hits was a triple.
QUEENSBURY GIRLS’ LACROSSE ROLLS
Kaitlyn Barton had five goals and two assists to lead Queensbury to a 22-0 Section 2 Class C quarterfinal victory over Albany Academy. Kendal Kelsey added four goals.
QUEENSBURY BOYS’ TENNIS WINS ANOTHER TITLE
Queensbury captured its third consecutive Section 2 Class A boys’ tennis championship with a 6-1 victory over Scotia-Glenville. Skyler Allen, Will Lamy, Owen Young, Ian Rathbun and Ryan Greenstein posted singles wins for Queensbury, and Max Anderson/Sean Donahue won at doubles. Jason Battaglia/Sean Fluman won at doubles for Scotia-Glenville.
In other championship matches, Shaker beat Bethlehem 5-4 in Class AA, Glens Falls edged La Salle 4-3 in Class B and Mekeel Christian Academy got past Maple Hill 4-3 in Class C/D.
