Area softball players named Foothills Council all-stars

Several area players were among those named to the Foothills Council softball all-star team.

Broadalbin-Perth sophomore catcher Kara Weaver, Gloversville sophomore pitcher Ariana Ferraro and Amsterdam senior shortstop/pitcher Rosie Sculco were named first-team Foothills Council all-stars.

Earning second-team honors were Broadalbin-Perth second baseman Camille Calderone, Gloversville sophomore third baseman Emily Strauser, Broadalbin-Perth junior pitcher/outfielder Shae Kanches, Amsterdam junior centerfielder Carolyn Sculco, and Gloversville junior shortstop Allie Salvione.

Broadalbin-Perth junior third baseman Mairead Marsden, Gloversville sophomore Andrea Miller, Broadalbin-Perth freshman pitcher/shortstop Adrianna Smith, Gloversville freshman outfielder, and Amsterdam eighth-grade shortstop Elianna Tirado all earned honorable-mention status.

South Glens Falls senior catcher Jill Capozucca was named Most Valuable Player and a Section II all-star. Glens Falls junior pitcher Giana Endieveri, Scotia-Glenville senior shortstop Brenna Jahn and Schuylerville junior shortstop Sophia Wahl also were named Section II all-stars from the Foothills Council.

South Glens Falls had senior first baseman Emma Martens, senior pitcher Tori Young and senior second baseman Kayden Craft named first-team Foothills Council all-stars, while Glens Falls placed junior third baseman Jaelyn Graham, senior shortstop Lily Haggerty and senior first baseman Emmylou Richards on the first team.

Schuylerville had sophomore outfielder Riley Keefer and junior shortstop Grace Kilburn named to the first team, Hudson Falls placed sophomores Jerusha Fairbanks (third base), Emily Harrington (catcher) and Madalyn Dudley (outfield) on the first team, and Queensbury juniors Lindsey Pepe (catcher) and Dyllan Ray (outfield) also earned first-team honors.

Scotia-Glenville sophomore pitcher Keeley Kristal rounded out the first-team selections.
In addition to its first-team selections, South Glens Falls also had Jess Beames and Kylee Craft named to the second team.

Glens Falls’ Izzy Johnson and Kiersten Stevens; Schuylerville’s Sophie Bodnar and Taylor Dennis; and Queensbury’s Ryan Allen and Sedona Jones all earned second-team honors.

Rounding out the second-team selections were Scotia-Glenville’s Ayanna Nicklas-Ortiz and Bella Harold; and Hudson Falls’ Anna Winter and Mya Strong.

Queensbury and Hudson Falls each had three players named honorable mention.
Hannah Blanchard, Bella Brown and Caleigh Jones earned honorable-mention status for the Spartans, while Abigail Bigelow, Lily Bump and Madison Sawyer were named honorable mention for the Tigers.

Rounding out the honorable-mention selections were South Glens Falls’ Ava Kill, Glens Falls’ Lily Canale, Schuylerville’s Cat Carpenter and South Glens Falls’ Emily Kamber.
