CAROGA LAKE — A total of eight area riders were among the winners Wednesday during supercross competition at Royal Mountain Ski Area.
Fonda’s Charles Rose, Gloversville’s Sal Attigliato Jr., Johnstown’s Maxx Miller, Pattersonville’s Zack Konwisarz, Mayfield’s Jack Battisti, Pattersonville’s Mike Baker, Johnstown’s Michael Ward and Amsterdam’s Kolby Krutz.
Attigliato won four motos to pick up the win in the 50cc open/E-bike 4-to-8-year-old and 50cc/E-bike 7-and-8-year-old classes. Attigliato also was second in the mini 60 7-to-11-year-old class.
Rose swept both motos to win the 122-open amateur class.
Miller was second in the first moto and first in the second moto to win the mini 80 12-to-15-year-old class. Miller also was second in the open mini 10-to-16-year-old class.
Konwisarz was second in the first moto and first in the second moto to win the pit bike mod class, while Battisti was second in the first moto and first in the second moto to pick up the win in the pit bike stock class.
Baker won the plus-40 amateur class after sweeping both motos and he also placed third in the plus-25 amateur class.
Krutz swept both motos to win the quad novice class.
Ward swept both motos to win the plus-50 open class and he also was second in the plus-25 expert class.
In addition to Attigliato, five other riders posted wins in multiple classes.
Ilion’s Joey Metott won the schoolboy, 122-125 two-stroke and open mini 10-to-16-year-old classes.
Middleburgh’s Derrick Fuller won the 122-open novice and 122-250 novice classes. Fuller also was fourth in the 122-125 two-stroke class.
Tug Greenslet of Bennington, Vermont, won the 122-250 amateur and collegeboy classes
Kingston’s Mack Gaddis won the mini 60 7-to-11-year-old and junior mini 9-to-11-year-old classes, while Catskill’s Josh Lambert won the 122-open expert and plus-25 expert classes.
Other winners included Johnsonville’s David Nitto (122-250 expert), Corinth’s Colton Tubbs (50cc 4-6), Glasco’s Zachary Flanagan (mini 80 9-11), Corinth’s Easton Morris (mini quad 50cc), Greenwich’s Ryan Gillis (plus-25 amateur), Ballston Spa’ Cody Milanese (quad expert), Corinth’s Ryder Morris (quad schoolboy/girl 12-16), Germantown’s Karlie Hunt (women 85-250cc) and Wolcott, Connecticut’s Mason Bigbie (mini quad 51-90cc).
Several area riders posted top-five finishes in their respective classes.
Pattersonville’s Marc Hartje was third in the 122-open novice class, while St. Johnsville’s Hunter Hickey was fifth. Hickey also was third in the 122-250 novice class, while Hartje was fourth. Johnstown’s Brett Unser was second in the 122-125 two-stroke class and second in the 122-250 amateur class.
Canajoharie’s C.J. Renzi was fourth in the 122-250 amateur class and second in the 122-open amateur class.
St. Johnsville’s Burton Wilson IV was fourth in the 50cc open/E-bike 4-to-8-year-old class. Wilson also was second in the 50cc/E-bike 7-and-year-old class.
Amsterdam’s Maverick Manzer was second in the 50cc 4-to-6-year-old class.
Fort Plain’s Cooper Reynolds was second in the schoolboy class, while Gloversville’s John Livingston was fifth.
In the mini quad 50cc class, Amsterdam’s Damion Brown was third and Johnstown’s Anderson Giardino was fifth.
St. Johnsville’s Blaire Wilson was fourth in the mini quad 51-90cc class.
Johnstown’s Sean Smith Jr. was third in the junior mini 9-to-11-year-old class, while Johnstown’s Brennan Hart was fourth in the mini 60 7-to-11-year-old class. Hart also was second in the mini 80 9-to-11-year-old class.
In the quad schoolboy/girl class, Fultonville’s Ava Cary was second, Mayfield’s Chloe VanNostrand was third, Gloversville’s Gabrielle Gliewe was fourth adn St. Johnsville’s Kaci Bare was fifth.
Johnstown’s Kip Simonds was second in the mini 80 12-to-year-old class and third in the open mini 10-to-16-year-old class. Simonds also finished fourth in the quad novice class, while Fultonville’s Kendra Cary was fifth.
In the pit bike mod class, Fonda’s Ryan Cocker was second, Broadalbin’s Paul Gifford was third and Gloversville’s Kenny Holliday was fifth.
Broadalbin’s Dan Gifford was second in the pit bike stock class.
Canajoharie’s Andrew Fredericks was second in the plus-50 open class.
Johnstown’s Ian Cary was second in the quad expert class, while Broadalbin’s Anthony Musto was third.
There were 270 entries signed in for Wednesday’s event.
Royal Mountain is scheduled to host its annual hillclimb on Sunday.
