AMSTERDAM — The Amsterdam Mohawks cliched the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League East Division title Saturday by defeating the Utica Blue Sox 5-1 at Shuttleworth Park.
Zach Eldred gave the Mohawks a 1-0 lead in the fourth with a solo home run. Marek Houston made it 3-0 in the fifth on a two-run single.
The Mohawks added two more runs in the eighth. Bruer Webster scored on a passed ball, and Luke Longo drove in a run on a groundout.
Norris McClure’s home run leading off the ninth ruined the Mohawks’ shutout bid.
The Mohawks are off Sunday. They host the Albany Dutchmen on Monday at 6:35 p.m.
