Sausville’s one-hitter leads Mohawks to PGCBL win over Boonville

BOONVILLE – Tyler Sausville pitched a one-hitter in the first game of a doubleheader Friday, leading the Amsterdam Mohawks to a 7-0 shutout of Boonville in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball game.

Sausville, from Colonie, struck out nine, walked two and allowed just one single to Darnell Guerrero in the seventh inning. Guerrero was thrown out on the play while trying to stretch it into a double.

Amsterdam scored six runs in the first inning. Bruer Webster had a two-run double in the inning, while Jared Johnson had a one-run double. Webster finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run.

In the second game, Amsterdam rolled to a 12-2 win in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule.

Two Mohawks pitchers combined on a no-hitter. Zach Eldred went four innings, striking out seven and walking two, while Christian Adams struck out two and walked none in one inning.

Jared Johnson had a home run and a double for Amsterdam (27-2 overall), while Cam Gurney had a single and a double. Gage Miller added a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored for the Mohawks.

Amsterdam is scheduled to travel to Glens Falls on Sunday for a 7 p.m. game.
