CAROGA LAKE — With the season coming down to its final few weeks, a total of 251 entries took part in Wednesday’s supercross event at Royal Mountain Ski Area.
Johnstown’s Brett Unser, Fonda’s Charles Rose, Johnstown’s Maxx Miller, St. Johnsville’s Blaire Wilson, Amsterdam’s Joey Vitalis, Mayfield’s Jack Battisti, Johnstown’s Michael Ward, Pattersonville’s Mike Baker, Broadalbin’s Anthony Musto, Amsterdam’s Kolby Krutz and Gloversville’s Tyler Rizzo were among the winners Wednesday.
Unser was second in the first moto and first in the second moto to win the 122-125 two-stroke class. Unser also was third in the 122-250 amateur class.
Rose swept both motos to win the 122-open amateur class, while Wilson swept both motos to win the mini quad 51-90cc class.
Miller won both motos to pick up the win in the mini 80 12-to-15-year-old class. Miller also was second in the open mini 10-to-16-year-old class.
Vitalis won the first moto and was second in the second moto to win the pit bike mod class, while Battisti was second in both motos to pick up the win in the pit bike stock class.
Ward won the plus-50 open class and was second in the plus-25 expert class.
Baker was second in the first moto and first in the second moto to win the plus-40 amateur class.
Musto and Krutz swept both motos to win the quad expert and quad novice classes, respectively.
Rizzo won both motos to pick up the victory in the quad schoolboy/girl class.
Five riders notched wins in multiple classes Wednesday.
Brunswick’s Jacob Falzo won the 122-open novice and 122-250 novice classes, while Clifton Park’s Gavin Betts won the 122-250 amateur and schoolboy classes.
Newburgh’s Andrew Williams won all four motos to win the 50cc open/E-bike 4-to-8-year-old and 50cc senior/E-bike 7-and-8-year-old classes.
Rhinebeck’s Travis Schmeirder swept all four motos to win the mini 80 9-to-11-year-old and junior mini 9-to-11-year-old classes. Schmeirder also was third in the open mini 10-to-16-year-old class.
Catskill’s Josh Lambert won the plus-25 expert and 122-open expert classes.
Other winners included Johnsonville’s David Nitto (122-250 expert), Corinth’s Colton Tubbs (50cc junior 4-6), Selkirk’s Landen Flansburg (50cc shaft drive), Accord’s Cole VanGorder (mini 60 7-11), Corinth’s Easton Morris (mini quad 50cc), Freehold’s Caiden West (open mini 10-16), Johnsonville’s Gary Thrane (plus-25 amateur), Pawlet, Vermont’s Baily Sheldon (women 85-250) and Bennington, Vermont’s Tug Greenslet (collegeboy).
Several area riders registered top-five finishes in their respective classes.
Fort Plain’s Jacen Grassel was fifth in the 122-open novice class.
In the 122-250 novice class, Galway’s Jack Cowan was third and Gloversville’s John Livingston was fifth.
Gloversville’s Sal Attigliato was second in the 50cc open/E-bike 4-to-8-year-old and second in the mini 60 7-to-11-year old classes. He also was second in the 50cc senior/E-bike 7-and-8-year-old class, while St. Johnsville’s Burton Wilson IV was fourth.
In the 122-open amateur class, St. Johnsville’s Josh Smith was second and Canajoharie’s C.J. Renzi was third. Renzi also was fourth in the 122-250 amateur class, while Smith also was third in the collegeboy class.
Fort Plain’s Ryelee David was second in the mini quad 50cc class, while Amsterdam’s Damion Brown was third.
In the pit bike mod class, Caroga Lake’s Chad Stumpf was second, Broadalbin’s Alex Rosa was third, Gloversville’s Kenny Holliday was fourth and Fultonville’s Brodie Rose was fifth.
Broadalbin’s Grayson Guttenberg was third in the pit bike stock class, while Gloversville’s Brian Stewart was fifth.
In the quad novice class, Palatine Bridge’s Roman Mancini was third, Canajoharie’s Elam Byler was fourth and Canajoharie’s Gavin Dygert was fifth.
Amsterdam’s Jon Owens was second in the plus-40 amateur class. Fort Plain’s Cooper Reynolds was third in the schoolboy class, and Sprakers’ Tyler Dygert was second in the plus-25 amateur class.
In the quad schoolboy/girl class, St. Johnsville’s Kaci Bare was second, Mayfield’s Chloe VanNostrand was third and Gloversville’s was fourth.
Johnstown’s Sean Smith Jr. was fourth in the junior mini 9-to-11-year-old class.
Johnstown’s Brennan Hart was fifth in the mini 60 7-to-11-year-old class. Hart also was fifth in the mini 80 9-to-11-year-old class.
Johnstown’s Kip Simonds was second in the mini 80 12-to-15-year-old class. Simonds also was fourth in the open mini 10-to-16-year-old class.
Johnstown’s Ethan Cornell was third in the mini quad 51-90cc class.
Royal Mountain is scheduled to be back in action Friday with a non-point supercross event.
