Committee plans to host golf outing

FORT JOHNSON — The Sacandaga Protection Committee is holding a Golf Outing Fundraiser on Aug. 14 at the Rolling Hills Country Club, 2258 State Route 5 in Fort Johnson. The event will include food, drinks, prizes, auctions, and raffles. To register as a single, or up to a foursome, email: [email protected] The SPC is dedicated to preserving access to the Great Sacandaga Lake for permit holders and the public, protecting the lake environment, and supporting lake communities.

Amsterdam Muni announces rates

AMSTERDAM — The City of Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course has set its rates for the remainder of the 2021 season. All prices include unlimited play along with a $5 cart trail fee per round. Children younger than 18 may play free anytime on weekdays and on weekends after noon. The single adult fee will be $625, the senior single adult fee is $600, the young adults age 18-29 is $275 and the adult couple fee is $1,000. Fort Plain plans sports physicals

FORT PLAIN — Any Fort Plain Central School student in grades seven to 12 interested in having their sports physical done at school for 2021-22 school year, should report to the high school nurse’s office Aug. 3 from 8 to 10 a.m. for the pre-physical screening. The student will need to return to the nurse’s office on Aug. 4 at 8:30 a.m. to see the doctor.

Hales Mills hosting youth golf camp

GLOVERSVILLE — The Hales Mills Country Club will host a Junior Golf Camp from July 28-30. The camp will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day and includes golf lessons by head professional Christopher Mathewson, playing golf and lunch every day. The cost is $120 per person. COOPERSTOWN — The next Cliff Kachline-Cooperstown/Upstate/Central NY Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) Chapter meeting will take place at 6 p.m. July 25 at Tillapaugh’s, 28 Pioneer Street, Cooperstown. Guest speakers for the meeting will include; Bill Deane, Tony Morante, Pete Pagliaro and Mike Hauser. Deane, an acclaimed baseball author, will talk about the life of chapter namesake Cliff Kachline, who was one of the founding members of SABR in August of 1971.
