JOHNSTOWN – Sign-ups for the Johnstown youth wrestling program have begun.
Youth interested in signing up may do so at the first practice Tuesday. The practice will run from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Johnstown High School wrestling room for any area boys or girls.
Practices will take place on?Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sign-ups also will be accepted through the season. The program will be free for participants.
The wrestling room is located on the second floor, next to the weight room.
The program will introduce the sport of folkstyle wrestling and teach basic wrestling skills. Agility and strength drills also will be incorporated into the instructional program. The program will focus on teaching wrestling techniques, developing basic skills and having fun.
Information on youth tournaments will be made available and those interested are encouraged to compete. The program will conclude in March.
Participants need to provide their own practice or wrestling gear. Regular street clothes are not allowed.
