GLOVERSVILLE – Gloversville Little League will host its 2013 opening ceremonies to kick off its 58th season today at 9 a.m. at its Parkhurst Field complex on Harrison Street.
Included in the ceremonies will a ribbon-cutting for the new “Parkhurst Field Museum” that was created to document the history of the facility dating back to 1906, when it was first used for Professional Baseball and up through the GLL’s 58-year history.
Also taking place on the grounds will be a sports card and sports memorabilia show and an appearance by Mickey Mantle look alike and his New York Yankee-pinstriped Ford Thunderbird.
The ceremonies will be followed by team pictures, so all players are urged to attend.
