CANAJOHARIE — U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand visited the Arkell Museum and the Canajoharie Library in the village of Canajoharie Saturday to raise awareness about the services and benefits libraries and museums provide communities.Gillibrand and her son took a tour of the facility before it opened with executive director and curator Sue Friedlander, periodically stopping to talk about the works on display, including Martin Korpershoek’s copy of Rembrandt’s “The Night Watch” and several works by Winslow Homer, including “Watching the Breakers.”After the tour, Gillibrand spoke about the importance of supporting local museums and libraries.“It's important to see some of the challenges that our…
