Demolition awaits NY-334 railroad bridge in Mohawk

MOHAWK — Hanging low above state Highway 334 in the town of Mohawk is a bruised and battered railroad bridge. It’s been abandoned for more than 30 years. And at some point, it won't be there. Fulton Railroad Properties Inc. has authorized the state Department of Transportation to raze the long abandoned bridge in light of structural concerns. For months, members of the corporate public board have contemplated whether or not the right-of-way was worth reusing for a possible nature trail. Montgomery County to replace Cranes Hollow Road bridge, latest for long-term infrastructure plan

AMSTERDAM — An outdated bridge on Cranes Hollow Road in the town of Amsterdam will be replaced next year as part of ongoing efforts to eventually repair or replace every bridge in Montgomery County.“It always has to be a priority just due to the sheer number of bridges we have in the county,” County Executive Matthew Ossenfort said. “We’ve tried to do at least one bridge a year.”Montgomery County is responsible for approximately 92 bridges within its borders.
