Amtrak service to New York City expected to resume Wednesday after flash floods in Hudson Valley

After flash floods in the Hudson Valley last weekend caused Amtrak and MTA Metro-North Railroad to suspend services, regularly scheduled train service is expected to resume Wednesday.  Some Metro-North train services were restored Tuesday morning, but Amtrak continued to suspend its train services from Albany to New York City following the severe flooding. A spokesman for Amtrak confirmed Tuesday afternoon that train service is expected to be back to scheduled operations on Wednesday .  Gov. Following extreme flooding in parts of state, Hochul calls for more action towards climate-resilient infrastructure

Gov. Kathy Hochul is calling for a statewide assessment of localities’ infrastructure to following severe flooding in areas of New York state this weekend, in order to ensure they are resilient enough to withstand the increasingly common extreme weather events.  Heavy rains caused widespread flooding in the Mid-Hudson and Finger Lakes regions this weekend, ultimately leading to the drowning death of one person and road closures, as well as leaving more than 5,000 people without power.  Hochul on Monday also issued flood watches for the eastern part of the state through Tuesday and also warned there is a high risk…
